Supposedly we are on the brink of war with Russia and have to go to search for a Sub threatening our communication lines in the North Atlantic. Well how did we know exactly where it was in the first place? In a supposedly tense scene in the second episode the sea states changed randomly and regularly along with the captains attire. Editor should consider a new career, if this was a film ( as it is styled) it would be ridiculous. Even the Navy ploughs it's frigate into a mountainous seas with only a rubber seal to protect its main gun. God help us if this is what is supposed to defend us.

Great Comedy TV If You Are Russian

Warning: Spoilers
It's nice to know that we can all sleep safely in our beds at night knowing that HMS Northumberland and her crew are patrolling the world ocean's (sometimes anyway) to keep us all safe. Last night, it was also good to see that the Russians were also being good sports by revealing themselves to the helicopter crew - I think they were probably aware that it wouldn't make very good TV if every bleep on the sonar turned out to be "marine life ". Anyway, in this never-ending saga of "now you see me, now you don't" the very finely tuned sonar that managed to detect the "marine life "apparently failed to pick up a huge Russian submarine that was directly below the ship. We've been hit and the damage has taken out our sonar, went up the cry - it must have been an accident... an error on the part of the submarines skipper was the deduction made by the captain - of course it was. At least there were no reports that James the Penguin had lost any of his stuffing! Unfortunately, as a result of the collision, the Northumberland and her crew now had to return back to base to get vital repairs done as it soon became apparent that the sonar could no longer detect "marine life". Personally, I thought they would at least wait for the replacement ship to arrive before setting sail for home, just in case those pesky Russians decided to have a go at our vital communication cables in the meantime. I suppose the captain of the Northumberland must have considered this but deduced the Russian submarine couldn't see where it was going therefore, they probably wouldn't notice they had gone.

Hilarious for Russians, embarrassed to be British

Warning: Spoilers
Long story short... the Royal Navy's on its backside. The ship consistently breaks and the Russian sub knocked out an entire British warship by simply turning to starboard lol.

Putin eat your heart out

Warning: Spoilers
I can only assume that the unfortunate crew are under some sort of gagging order. Whoever thought up the storyline for this fairytale and then got the captain to go along with it deserves credit, sort of. We set sail into international waters to prevent a Russian submarine interferring with cables. A senior warrant officer shows a young commissioned officer how to check throughout the ship for rattles and noise that might alert the pesky Russian sub to their whereabouts. The four diesel engines have presumably been shutdown, as they are known to emit some annoying sounds and could well giveaway our location.

The sea is calm then rough, the sky is dark then light and we have a fire then a flood. The new chef is struggling but we carry on with our vital mission. Luckily another new crew member is up in the operations room and she is determined to hunt down the sub, and she does. If that does'nt deserve promotion what does, give her a star.

Meanwhile back in the galley, moaney the chef is not going to be out done, oh no. He is going to prepare a meal for 200 crew mates and yes you have guessed it , this nothing short of a resounding success.

This is shaping up into a blockbuster and the crew can probably look forward to honours and Knighthoods. The Russians are laughing, lets join them.
