The first 90% of this episode made it appear that Henry Winkler had put on his water skis, but they managed to pull it together at the end and gave us a wonderful twist. So we'll give them another chance next week.
This is a show that may have reached an unprecedented high mark for television in its first two seasons, giving us novel concepts with spot-on execution. And the twists and turns along the way would have impressed William Goldman. But it was such a high concept that you wondered if they'd be able to sustain it. And while season three certainly had some really high moments, the original premise started to appear difficult for the writers to continue to create from.
They've announce that this is the last season, so more than likely they'll bring their A-game back. Fingers crossed.
They get 8 stars mainly because of the good will they built up from previous episodes, and from what -- you gotta hand it to them -- was a pretty clever twist at the end of this episode. You figured they'll pull something, but didn't see this coming at all.
And of course the acting was right on it.
