Heart wrenching

I think this story hit very hard with me. Having lived a comfortable life with my Partner for almost 11 years we separated and my world came crashing down. I could relate to Kirsty on many levels. Watching her attempt to carry on life as normally as possible for the sake of her 2 daughters was heartbreaking. Having no food in the cupboards nor fridge and living on toast is close to my life now. Her desperation to earn more money and gain more hours at work was something I could relate to also. I loved watching this but was so saddened when she was taken advantage of by a male parent portraying himself to be her friend. The length she went to to get herself out of a terrible situation was horrendous but in the end I felt Kirsty saw life differently. I hope she went on to live a better life, I hope her daughters were more understanding but most of all I hope she survived it all. Great story, written and acted brilliantly

Gritty short drama showing how desperate people will do desperate things. Excellent acting and script and well worth watching particularly if you're feeling bad about your own life.

Scarily too true to life

Kirsty is a kind, loving single parent who finds herself in dire circumstances through no fault of her own. She doesn't have a support network and we see her struggling to provide for her 2 children as a cleaner, where she criticised for not reaching the required standard . In watching these 3 dramas, it is clear that the title was chosen to illustrate that any woman could find themselves in similar situations and that we also might make unpalatable decisions when desperation strikes. This was hard to watch at times. And although not a happy ending, there was a satisfactory resolution of sorts. Brilliantly acted, entertaining and informative.

Gritty and heartbreaking in modern day UK

Warning: Spoilers
Samantha Morton delivers a bravura performance that one can't easily ignore. It speaks to the social ills where someone can be one paycheck away from poverty, desperation and struggle street. Paul Kaye was malevolent big time, such a contrast to his role as the coroner in Vera.

The ending was a bit redemptive, with a hint of optimism.
