Hannah is single
safenoe12 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Hannah is single and enters the world of swipe right or swipe left. Gemma Chan captured the soul of Hannah, who faces a crisis when she fears not being able to bear children. Hannah doesn't consider adoption.

London can be a lonely place for singles, and this episode really displays this full-on. Costume design is by Celia Yau, and 1st assistant director is Jessica Laws.

I like the piano background music in this episode and the other two episodes. Anthony John is the composer. Impressive.

you can't always get what you want
yvonne_howard9 August 2019
The drama is about a 30-something woman trying to work out what she wants in life before it's too late. She knows what she doesn't want ie to end up like some of her friends, desperate enough to settle for unsuitable men in order to have a family. She tries to reconcile her wish for security and freedom as we see her try to navigate this path through a succession of inevitably unsuccessful dates.

The theme seems to be that life sometimes has a way of showing you that you really can't have it all .

It is a well acted, absorbing watch and the contrast between men who confidently express what they want and a young woman struggling to understand and articulate her conflicting desires is masterfully illustrated.

I Am Hannah
Prismark107 April 2020
Devised from an idea by Gemma Chan and Dominic Savage.

Chan plays Hannah a single woman in her mid 30s. Her biological clock is ticking, her mum wants grandchildren, she uses dating apps to go out with a series of men.

Hannah does well when she articulates how people tell you not to have children when you are young and that you should focus on your career. Only to later nag you that you are letting your life pass by.

Maybe this could chime with Chan's own experiences as an actress.

The first half of this story deals with Hannah and couple of disastrous dates she has. She does connect with one person but realises that she wants to deal with life in her own terms.

Although well acted by Chan, as a drama it was kind of seen it all before and it added nothing new.
