McCartney still cannot get out of mediocrity it seems

The title of this "movie" Paul McCartney: Who Cares tells you basically what this is, namely a music video for the 2018 song Who Cares from former Beatles member Paul McCartney. Even with his glory days in terms of singles charts success long gone, he is still a pretty prolific recording artist. And for his recent music videos he cast many big name actors, Portman and Depp I think and many others. Here he got recent Oscar winner Emma Stone. There is a brief music-less introduction of about 2 minutes with Macca playing a shrink and Stone his patient that leads us to a hypnosis reference that eventually takes us into three minutes of music and then there is a final minute, slightly over of closing credits, which is definitely a lot for a 6-minute video. Oh well, it says on the poster "a new musical film" Don't know what to think of that. Not even the inclusion of Stone and her Oscar-winning cinematographer Linus Sandgren can really make me think of this one as a film, even if by definition it is a motion picture like any other music video. However, McCartney's song and the style-over-substance quanity of the actual music video in the middle made it difficult for me to like this one. Lyrics-wise it also feels pretty shallow. Surprised this has such a high rating here on imdb. Or maybe not, I can see why some like it. But I've never been a huge Beatles fan and if at all I preferred Lennon. McCartney is so mediocre in all he has done in the last 10 years, clearly it is his heritage that keeps him alive rather than him coming up with new quality stuff. Even the fact that I like Emma Stone is not enough for me to give out a positive recommendation here. She is good in the first two minutes no denying, but afterwards she is just lost in heaby make-up. Also what's up with McCartney looking like an old woman at the beginning Rough stuff really. It's not the first time I recognize this, maybe it is actually time for him to retire from the industry, it does not seem anymore as if he has a lot interesting to tell the world with his music. And the world gets it as this has despite his and Emma's popularity only around 2 million clicks on Youtube despite being released before the holidays last year. By today's standards it isn't much. Watch something else instead. Listen to something else instead.
