As the sole ruler of the Hotel Heidelberg, Annette Kramer is up to her neck with work. Not only does her adopted son Ole suffer from this, whose problems at school have already called the youth welfare office onto the scene, but also her husband Ingolf. When Annette also accepts a request from local politicians, Ingolf's heart bursts: he wants to force his wife to finally slow down. But because she doesn't allow herself to be patronized under any circumstances, this naturally leads to a major marital crisis. Ingolf learned from his parents, Susanne and Werner, that a bond can break for life. There are also conflicts with the sisters Mascha Hillinger and Karin Berger, who check in as guests at the Hotel Heidelberg. Despite arriving for their father's funeral, they both have a hard time breaking their 20-year radio silence. In order to fulfill the patriarch's last wish to finally be reconciled, both must put their past behind them. Meanwhile, Annette's realization is growing that she should hand over responsibility in the hotel. However, her idea of involving her brother Stefan as co-managing director backfires: he takes on a loan. Now Annette doesn't have much room to maneuver.
