Impossible to Turn Away!!!

Silly me! I assumed that Niels would turn out to be this episode's big plot twist.

A quote from Midsomer Murders' Insp. Barnaby is fitting here: "A, B, C. Assume nothing. Believe nobody. Check everything."

Even with those rules firmly in place, you will still deceive yourself. Brilliant mystery writing! Pacing, which is so easy to get wrong, is just about perfect.

Breathtaking.

This series has been exceptional from the start, and this is the best of the lot so far. It's the most dramatic, entertaining and blood thirsty episode so far.

Finally we get a showdown between Baptiste and Constantin, and it really is one of the highlights of the series so far, Karyo and Hollander have been superb, but this episode belongs to Alec Secareanu, he was superb in this.

The pace of this episode was quite incredible, really edge of the seat viewing. I am totally baffled as to who the real bad guy is, Jessica Raine's character is looking a little dubious, that really would be a twist.

This is a truly winning formula, and I hope the finale is as good. 10/10

Truly exceptional

There is nothing on American TV aside from some HBO series that matches the quality of "Missing" and now "Baptiste". The writing, the directing and the all important acting is superb. Network cop shows need to learn a lesson from this one.

In this episode truths emerge.

Kim Vogel leaves a message behind for her husband who is now grief stricken.

Edward Stratton needs to find his estranged wife and take her and her lover to safety. He gets an opportunity if the impact his daughter's death has had on both of them.

Martha confesses to her son Neils that Baptiste is his real father. Even Baptiste tells his wife that he fathered another son.

The ever weary Baptiste who has been near death, knows that he and Edward will never be free of Constantin and need to turn the tables on him.

An audacious plan by Baptiste and Genevieve does not eliminate the dangers that everyone faces.

We get to learn more about Genevieve and how a mistake she made led one man to have his life severely wrecked. As we approach the finale, it is now her, Baptiste and Edward who need to make an impact.
