A time of reflection and thought
blanbrn19 October 2019
This episode 6 from season 3 of the "HBO" series "Room 104" called "A New Song" is somewhat of a yawner and lame as it really doesn't hold much interest. Anyway a singer and songwriter Nina checks into "Room 104" a break from touring to write new songs and do her craft. Only oddly and strangely visions and drawings appear on the room walls. Plus she reflects on her past life as she sees a glimpse into the future, plus she comes to terms with her love an Asian woman(Atsuko Okatsuka). Overall not that great of an episode just one about looking back and reflecting.

So dumb I almost died

What?!?!? I am so mad I did not skip this episode that was the biggest wasted 25 min of my life. I've been quarantined for over a month and that was the lowest point yet. Please skip this episode it's the stupidest thing you'll ever see.

By far the worst episode. It's painfully dull and pointless.

I'm a big fan of Room 104 and while some episodes are better than others, this was painful to watch. I'd recommend watching paint dry or water boil, at least those won't make your ears bleed.

So Abstract That It's Useless
stevenevans-2859726 March 2023
I'm, primarily, writing this review, in order to warn other viewers, and prevent them from wasting their time with this episode.

"Room 104" is a decent anthology. However, one of the bad things about anthologies, is that you may end up with some dud episodes. This is one of those episodes.

After about the first five, to ten, minutes, I began to wonder if I should just shut it off. This is because it started to seem as if this was just another one of those abstract episodes that don't amount to anything. It wouldn't be much of an exaggeration to say that I've watched music videos that have about the same amount of substance as this episode.

I won't give away spoilers. However, if you were to read the synopsis, then that tells you all you need to know. This is because, this episode, literally, doesn't have much more to offer than its basic, single-sentence, synopsis.

It takes a while to get going...

It takes a while to get up to speed and has a different pace then most episodes but is not as bad as people have rated it. These are two musicians dealing with each other's inequality in a subjective musical landscape. Not something lost people could relate to. The audio design on this is some of the best of the series and is one thing I've always appreciated about the Duplass Brothers output.

Very pleasantly surprised!!

This was a much needed time out, a live performance intermission between the much more intense episodes. She creates really beautiful ambient music, and the episode sounded great. It portrayed really well what it's like to make music & In my opinion it's a must watch regardless of your attention span. When I realized who the performer was, I felt so surprised, because she is so talented and I've always enjoyed listening to her. So for her to have an episode of her own in such a great show was really fitting. Making ambient music isn't easy and neither are relationships. I thought the connection between the two went really well together, putting vulnerability on display, order to live with or create something you've got to be honest and vulnerable. Wonderful episode.
