So dumb again
paisordelet28 April 2020
What happened to this show?! Two stupid and pointless episodes in a row??? The "artists" featured in this episode remind me of my time in art school. All the privileged white boys who would stand up and defend their art for 45 minutes and say absolutely nothing of meaning or purpose. Their biggest struggle in life was that they loved getting high, maybe got a couple detentions in high school, and then their parents still ultimately pay their full tuition for college. Then they splatter garbage on garbage to keep their egos nice and full. If you want to meet someone like this, watch this episode.

The Anthology of Anthologies
stevenevans-2859728 March 2023
I'm not a fan of this episode. To me, it's quite boring, and it doesn't do much for me.

Having said that, this episode is a reminder of just how vast, in diversity, "Room 104" is. You never know what you're going to see. I, now, consider this show to be "the anthology of anthologies", because the next episode could be anything. Even the genre is inconsistent.

If you watch "The Outer Limits", you know that every episode will be sci-fi. If you watch "American Horror Story", you know that each season will deal with horror. With this show, each episode could be anything. One show can be a home run, while, another, will leave you scratching your head; wishing you had turned it off.

This episode has a pretty low rating, which, I believe, is warranted. However, those who decided to write an actual review, have, often given it relatively high ratings. I understand the great divide, since, I suppose, nearly anything is bound to appeal to someone.

Originally, I was going to give this episode one star. This is because it does nothing for me. However, I've decided to give it two because, after watching the previous episode, I'm reminded that it, certainly, could have been worse.

By the end of this episode, I was wondering if it may have been a type of parody. It's not. Because it's not, this gave me another reason to give it two stars, instead of one. After all, some people really are helped by, and do value, this sort of thing. It's just not for me.

I'd love to go into the details of why I don't like this episode. However, if I do, I'll have to give spoilers, and I don't want to do that. However, I will say that this episode won't appeal to the masses. This is because, when watching an anthology, people, generally, want a good story. This episode doesn't offer that.

If you don't mind spoilers, then don't hesitate to read one of the good reviews. Nearly all of them give spoilers, in my view. This is because you can't really talk about this episode, without explaining what goes on.

It's true that, with "Room 104", you can see anything. However, as one bad reviewer put it, I really do feel that the last few episodes should be spaced out, a bit. It wouldn't hurt to mix some of these up, in terms of order. For instance, if one episode is simply us watching a wall of paint dry, the next one, really should be an intriguing story. This would help to balance things out.

A nice bonding thru reflection and opening up about past pain winning thru art!
blanbrn27 October 2019
This episode from the "HBO" series "Room 104" number 7 from season 3 called "Jimmy and Gianni" is one that's interesting and it was touching an emotional bond with a father and son with troubled past. Jimmy and Gianni father and son check into "Room 104" from L.A. and both are artists and they start to paint drawings all thru the room including the walls and back of the beds. Along the way the son opens up about his past addictions and demons of drug abuse and mental problems and dad opens up about how it affected him and even gave him problems with the wife. Overall soul searching episode as both open up and reveal and talk about their pain thru memories and working thru art helps express and cure some hurting. Overall emotional episode of comfort and truth revealing which put both central characters at ease.

Documentary takes place in the space known as Room 104.
tonypiece26 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode isn't exactly a Room 104 story, but rather a documentary that takes place in the space we know as Room 104. It is not a written and directed episode that we as viewers have become accustomed to. As an episode of Room 104, frankly I found this one to be an odd addition. As a short documentary about a father and son who are both artists that delve into the topics of addiction and mental health as well as insight from both about their work, I found it to be pretty brilliant with so much discussed in such a short amount of time. To my eye it had to be viewed as something other than a traditional (can you call Room 104 stories traditional?) Room 104 story. If you can view it as such I found it to be quite enjoyable. For this reason it gets a 7/10 for me. If it had been presented as anything other than an episode of Room 104 then I'd most likely rate it 9/10.

Lovely.

I absolutely loved this episode. The chance to witness a special bond between two men was surprisingly comforting. To see them speaking so openly and with so much emotion, compassion, and understanding while creating art together in an iconic space was really cool. I know others will disagree with my review (based on the eps current rating), but I thought it was a nice departure. You never know what you're gonna get in Room 104.

Jimmy (father) and Gianni (son)
safenoe7 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Jimmy Ray Flynn and Gianni Arone are father and son, respectively, although I was confused at first because they don't share the same surname, but still, this episode of Room 104 is bold and visionary and experimental and delved into the father and son relationship through the medium of painting in Room 104 of course.

Some may not like this episode, and admittedly it ain't for everyone because it lacks the traditional story structure.

Anyway, all credit to the production team for bringing Jimmy and Gianni together to create an unforgettable episode of Room 104 where some can check out but never leave.

Think twice

I just really feel the importance for this review, that bad reviewers apparently don't get, mental health and addiction issues. This totally got to me, and my life is nowhere near to either of these characters. It felt so real I had to check if this episode was a documentary. I really connected with the younger man and got inspired about both creativity and be more real with my own therapist
