This is technically the penultimate episode of the first season of Stargirl that have mostly been great and it shows in the world building, directing and overall writing. The acting have so far been great and believable.
This episode is titled Shining Knight and it's called that for a reason, will Justin the Janitor remember who he really are? The episode has us see the aftermath of last episode and a lot happened. We also get to see one storyline from the comics and it's a huge arc for Courtney, a guy called Sam comes and tells her that he is her father. Is he? Geoff Johns wrote it perfectly as he probably did in the comics.
On the villain side we get more Brainwave and Icicle, and more or their big plan called Project New America.
This episode is a character driven one so no action, that can be bad for some viewers but this has some great character development and storytelling for Courtney and Pat, brilliantly played by the two actors. You can really feel their emotions, Brec Bassinger completely killed it.
This was quality drama and something that we needed. It deserves a better rating but I get it, it was really slow paced with lots of dialogue. No action. But why do I think it deserves a 9/10? It's because it has a lot of heart, Geoff Johns understands the characters and knows that the episode that sets up the season finale would only hurt from having forced fight sequences and what he wrote and director managed to do was incredible.
