When a frantic man darts in front of their bus on a desolate Armenian road, Dr. Miller and his students decide to take the man to an old village for assistance. They soon discover that the village is well-guarded, and full of secrets.
After straying too close to the old man imprisoned in the pit, Rick goes missing, while Cameron wakes up in the pit itself. Little does Dr. Miller or any of the students realize, but Rick and Cameron unknowingly awakened an ancient evil.
With the char voki released from its constraints from inside the body of the prisoner, the entire village falls under severe threat, and Dr. Miller and his students must come to grips with the supernatural evil that challenges them.
The char voki's cunningly lethal discretion cleaves division inside the group of students, as well as within the village of protectors. It is only a matter of time until the fantastic evil that was awakened begins to intensify its horror.
As betrayal threatens to undermine the village's sacred duty, the mark that is burned onto Karen's neck is discovered in an ancient text, leading Sanasar to believe that she may be able to use her unique abilities to their advantage.
After returning from the portal, Karen reveals that the char voki is not the only entity at work, and their goal is humanity's extinction. To thwart the evil entities from fulfilling their plan, a final stand is made, and Karen is the key.
