Amazing Sendoff
baileycrawly10 October 2019
I couldn't possibly think of a better, more respectful way to close the chapter on Fred Andrews' life. The typical drama you associate with Riverdale is toned WAY down and the focus is almost exclusively on Archie's grieving process. Filled with heartfelt moments of genuine kindness and sadness, this may very well be the best episode Riverdale has had so far

Rest In Peace Luke Perry, and thank you.

Warning: Spoilers
I've watched Riverdale since season one and I'm not a big fan of it but I still continue to watch it. But this review isn't for talking about my opinion on Riverdale this is just for this episode and to pay my respects for Luke.

This episode really surprised me, I knew that they would have a memorial episode but I didn't think it would be this great and touching.

The scene when they come back to town and everyone welcomes them back made my cry, it was so beautiful.

I'm also glad they didn't make his death to be a big part of the story later.(Like the Andrews family vs Hiram storyline)

They made this for Luke and they did it in a very great way.

Rest In Peace Luke Perry, thank you for your everything.

RIP Luke Perry and Fred Andrews

I'm only reviewing this episode because of the tribute to Luke Perry and his character Fred. And I want to say RIP them both. They were both amazing people, with Luke being a good actor and person and Fred being a great father and person as well.

RIP Luke Perry(October 11,1966-March 4,2019)

A respectful homage to Luke Perry through the eyes of his character Fred Andrews
Ed-Shullivan16 October 2019
Well done to the cast of Riverdale for paying special tribute to the untimely death of actor Luke Perry in this the season 4 opener episode. It was an especially nice touch to have Luke Perry's former fellow cast member from Beverly Hills 90210, Shannen Doherty, lead Archie and his friends in a prayer on the side of the rode where he fictitiously died at the hands of a hit and run driver. Luke Perry who played Archie Andrew's father and moral compass Fred Andrews, obituary which was written and read out loud by Archie's best friend Jughead Jones surely drew many tears from this week's audience.

Fake or real tears, this touching tribute to honor the actual death of actor Luke Perry who passed away suddenly from a massive ischemic stroke at his home in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles on February 27, 2019, was both touching and heart felt bestowing great empathy which I am sure the cast members did not have to try very hard to act, as their love for their co-star Luke Perry was quite evident.

We have not only lost a great actor, but also a great human being.

The best tribute to Luke Perry (Fred Andrews) that could have been given. Heartbreaking but in a way that gives viewers the feeling of closure we need.

This episode was a brilliant send off for Luke Perry. The man was a legend and will always be in our hearts. All the actors played their part well and you could tell they were real tears. This episode is sad enough to bring the strongest man to tears. For warned if your reading these reviews before you've watched the episode, keep tissues by your side...

RIP Luke Perry You Will Always Be Riverdale
Zaid_Khoury11 October 2019
This episode made me tear up so bad, the way this episode greeted and respected the character of Fred Andrews is spectacular, a whole tribute episode and a well deserved tribute, he was the glue for this show, was such a good father figure and a very genuine human being. The memories the sad goodbyes and the way we felt what Archie was feeling is amazing, i was so sad throughout the episode. I was also so happy to see such a beautiful tribute, this by far will be the best episode Riverdale put out and thank you for the ride.

RIP Luke Perry (October 11,1966 - March 4, 2019) You will be missed.

Overrated
alec-2923618 March 2021
The episode is very overrated, I think they should have done memory and honored the actor Luke Perry, more than the character Fred. The episode was not bad, but it was not one of the best.

Luke Perry was a nice guy but...
TheAngryReviewer11 October 2019
This episode while an amazing tribute and nice send off to Luke Perry and wraps up the story well I thought that this episode was a bit too over the top and I found myself constantly rolling my eyes at tired cliches and getting bored with the awful pacing of the episode. It was nice to do the tribute to Luke Perry I just wish they could've done it better

Heartfelt Tribute
jojessy12 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This episode was so well done. You could see the cast was truly sadden by Fred/Luke Perry's death. It did not seem like a script but rather a final farewell to Luke Perry. I think Fred and Luke were one in the same. This was an emotional and honorable tribute to Luke Perry. The appearance by Shannen Doherty and the welcome home celebration by the community and Archie's expression while driving says alot about how the cast and crew felt about Luke Perry. I was deeply touched by this dedication. May you rest peacefully Luke Perry🙏🏼

A standalone episode? Check. Good writing? Check. The best episode I've ever watched? Absolutely. This is what Riverdale is supposed to be. I know this was a very hard hitting episode but it did everything right. R.I.P. Luke Perry. We miss you.

This tribute is so beautiful. It made me cry. I can imagine many of the actors didn't have to act while playing this episode and that the grieve is real. Respect to the writers and crew for making this beautiful tribute to Luke Perry!

Done with grace and class!

Warning: Spoilers
It's a tough think when a life is unexpectedly cut short. No one can say goodbye and there is always the despair of loss left behind with the living that will never find any true closure. When a celebrity dies it's a bit tougher because, even though they didn't get to know everyone, everyone at least had the opportunity to get to know them a little bit over the years.

I have been in Hollywood and seen that industry. Like so many other jobs you end up getting to know your co-workers and some tend to feel like family. TV acting is very much like that. After 3 full seasons together, the Riverdale crew was undoubtedly that way. Especially, since Luke Perry was a veteran actor and there were a lot of upstart young people on the show. I'm sure the entire crew and staff felt the more so than most.

Today I watch Season 4 Episode 1. An entire show dedicated to the loss of Fred Andrews, played by Luke Perry. Obviously, his unexpected death meant there was only so many options for the writers. I watched and by the time Shannen Doherty showed up as the stranded woman Fred was helping on the side of the road and ultimate saved from being ran over, sacrificing himself, I found myself thinking back to how many times I had actually watched Luke Perry. I'm 10 years younger than him and I grew up watching 90210, the show that made Zipcodes famous. I remember the original movie of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which was a comedy. Yeah, I grew up watching the guy like so many Gen-Xers.

The funeral scene looked pretty real and that's when it dawned on me, the cast was saying goodbye to Luke Perry and not Fred Andrews. Realism can and did come through in that scene.

This was the second time in my life I had seen a respectable, graceful and classy send off to a beloved character and Actor. It felt a lot like seeing Paul Walker drive off into the sunset in the Fast and Furious series.

My hats off to The CW, the Cast, the Crew and the Staff. Well done. To take a line from Archie, I believe you honored the memory of the Character and Luke Perry himself. I thank you.

The First And Only Best Episode Of All Time And That Happens To Be The Riverdale Season Four Opening.
desertscrpion10 October 2019
Farewell To The Fan Favorite Character Of Fred Andrews Played By The Late Beloved Star Luke Perry Who Passed Away From a Stroke Earlier This Year And Ever Since Then After His Death I've Been Watching Every Movie That He Ever Made Or Done And By Far He Has Done Several Good Movies That i Seen That I've Been You Know The Overrated Ones But Not To Me Like His Small Bit Part Role in Luc Bresson's Science Fiction Action Film in 1997s "The Fifth Element", "Alice Upside Down The Movie" in 2007, The T.V. Made Movie Disaster "Supernova" in 2005 With Tia Carrere And The Late Peter Fonda, "Buffy The Vampire Slayer The Movie" in 1992 With Kristy Swanson, The Late Rutger Hauer And Donald Sutherland, "A Gunfighter's Pledge" in 2008 With C. Thomas Howell, The indie Small Thriller Film "Upstairs" in 2009 Where He Plays a Serial Killer, The Family Film "K-9 Adventures: A Christmas Tale" in 2013, The Two Dramatic Films The Family Drama Film "Black Beauty in 2015 With Bruce Davidson, Heartwarming Drama "A Fine Step" in 2014 Where He Plays a Horseman With His Horse Named Fandango Who is injured With a Broken Leg Which Mean That He Can't Race On a Horse Anymore, Now Here Comes Another Movie That To Me Which i Call it The Best Performance Role Of His Career And Happens To My Favorite Luke Perry Film Called "Love And Paradise" in 2016 Which is a Hallmark Channel Movie Where He Plays Western Movie Star Who is Forced To Spend The Weekend At a Ranch in Some Small Town But The Only Problem is That He Himself is Afraid Of Horses And Along The Way He Tells Himself That Living in a Small Town Where is All About The Horse Ranches is Not Bad And He Kinda Falls in Love With a Local Rancher Woman Who Likes Taking Care Of Animals, One Of His Most Famous Roles in Movies is The Bopic Drama Film "8 Seconds" Where He Plays a Real Life Bullridier Name Lance Frost And Finally We Come To His Last Movie Screen Role Which Well Ever Be Truly Memorble Of All Time Which Happens To Be The Ensemble Cast in Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in hollywood" Where He Plays a T.V. Show Actor Named Wayne Maunder Who is Playing The Character Of Scott Lancer Filming a Western T.V. Show Series Called "Lancer" And in Actually in Real Life Back in 1969, There Was a Real Life T.V. Show "Lancer" That Started The Real Life Actor Wayne Maunder Who Died Last Year Anyways in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood He Has One Big Moment But Brief Scene With Leonardo DiCaprio's Rick Dalton Who's Playing a Geust Star Villian On The Ploit Episode Of "Lancer" That's Why i Like Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Because Luke Perry And Leonardo DiCaprio Get To Be in a Movie For The First Time And They Have An Awesome Scene Together And Because Back in The Nineties Leonardo DiCaprio And Luke Perry Were Barely Started in Films When They Were Both Young Upcoming Rising Stars So it Was Great That Leo And Luke Did a Film Together Right Before Luke Perry Died From a Stroke in His Home in Sherman Oaks, C.A. But This Brand New Episode in Riverdale Season Four When The Show is Paying An Ultimate Tribute To Luke Perry's Fred Andrews And How His Character Died By a Hit And Run Driver i Was Really in Tears a Lot By Watching This Final Time And i Will Not Forget This Episode Because is Very Emotional Tragic And Plus Saying Goodbye Fred Andrews Who Loves His Son Archie And His Character Will Always Be a Legacy To Remember By And How His Character Was The Best Thing in The Town Of Riverdale So Rest in Peace Luke Perry/Fred Andrews You Will Ever Be The Ultimate And Greatest Actor/Character Of All Time Of This Show Called "RIVERDALE" Once Again The Best And Saddest Episode Of All Time That Will Stick With Me Always. Rip Luke Perry.

Such a beautiful way to say goodbye.
titch_screams18 October 2019
RIP Luke Perry. Goodbye mr Andrews.

This episode was beautifully composed, and Archies grief was palpable. I'm not ashamed to say I cried from as soon as Archie sunk to his knees, until the end credits.

From his wishes to transport his father home, to the surprise guests in the episode, to the final end. It was so lovely but so sad and full of tear jerking moments.

Fred Andrews was a very loved character, and his exit will always be the best episode that riverdale has released.

My input for this review is solely based on my respect for Luke Perrr, and growing up watching him in the original 90210 and Buffy. He was an integral part of 90s crush list, but he was a great actor. RIP, Luke Perry.

Beautiful Send-Off for Luke Perry
Coolmade200015 June 2020
This episode does a phenomenal job in remembering Luke Perry.

It is a little bit of a continuation from the season 3 finale, but the writers did craft this episode to be a stand-alone story. The real season premiere is the second episode of this season. So the season 3 recap is not in this episode to pay respect for Luke Perry.

Shannon Doherty's performance was spot on.

The writers did an amazing job handling Fred Andrew's exit as well as telling an emotional story about the relationship between a father and his son.

And just when the whole episode was so emotional, the ending hits perfectly by showing a tribute of Fred Andrews.

Well done, Riverdale!

I cried watching the entire episode first when I heard that Fred is gone just like the actor Luke Perry and all we know that both of them are the same person that we never gonna see again. His memoriam is just perfect and can never be better.

RIP Fred (Luke) we'll remember you.
