The Villains of Someone Else's Story
ThomasDrufke7 October 2019
Surprisingly it felt like this off season without Walking Dead went by quicker than ever, even though the series is coming off what could be considered the best season ever.

I figured the episode would 'hide' Alpha and The Whisperers for a good chunk to reintroduce the audience to the mystique of the show, and they did just that. It also reintroduced us to the structure of a show that still clearly has about 4-5 too many characters. Whether it's the mostly unnecessary but entertaining training sequence, to Negan introducing himself to Lydia, or Carol/Daryl's ride, the show decided to focus more on characters than it did plot. Especially as the majority of the episode dealt with the arrival of a satellite that burnt down most of the forest right along the border.

More than anything else, the episode made me want to revisit the last few episodes of last season, especially the fair episode. Besides the final staredown, there wasn't a ton of things to tackle in terms of an official review but it was a promising start to what should be a phenomenal season 10.

Crossing the Border
claudio_carvalho21 October 2019
It is training day of combat for the Oceanside community. Judith finds a skin-made Whisperer mask on the sand raising tension among the survivors. Carol returns on a boat and meets Ezequiel and Daryl. When a satellite falls in the Whisperer side, there is a fire in the woods and the survivors are forced to cross the Whisperer border to fire fighting and extinguishing. They are also attacked by a herd of walkers and need to fight. Daryl and Carol walk to a cliff and Carol and Alpha see each other.

Divided in segments (Training Day / Skin / Bird Wisdom / Sea Dogs / New Mexico / Lines We Cross / Embers), "Lines We Cross" is the return of "The Walking Dead". The episode is reasonable and worthwhile watching. The conclusion is promising. My vote is seven.

Title (Brazil): "Limites que Cruzamos" ("Limits We Cross")

Note: On 07 January 2024, I saw this episode again.

When TWD has better battle strategies than GOT!
MamadNobari976 October 2019
This episode was great again and this show continues to be good after those horrible 7 and 8th seasons thanks to Angela Kang who saved the show.

So What Did We Learn Tonight?
sevenlilxenos7 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Russian satellites have a shelf life of about 10 years in the ZA.

2,000 years later armies are still paying homage to the fighting techniques of the Roman Empire.

Dancing hot dog trophies are a good ice breaker when trying to make a new hook up.

Finding skinned people can ruin an otherwise nice day of horseback riding.

Judith has a potential career in the field of children story writing and telling.

Getting caught sneaking a peak of someone breast feeding and bad doctor jokes are very awkward.

Negan's powers of observation and truth manipulation never seem to fade.

Daryl and his dog have alot of choices in the lady friend department.

Sometimes you have to fight fire with water and fire.

Best line of the night: Eugenius.

Its kinda hard to win a staring contest with someone who has vacant eyes.

Never Have I Seen a Show Deteriorate So Much Yet Be Resurrected So Beautifully
jrc-053917 October 2019
This was a very good start to the new season. I really enjoyed the parallel timelines where we got to see the different groups in the moments the satellite flew above them in the sky. The final fight scene near the burning satellite was VERY good. This was a well paced episode and a promising beginning. Here's to a great Season 10, full of action, love, sadness, tension, and a few laughs all rolled into one.

What is still the point...
marcels757 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I can't handle it anymore. I want it to finish. And why are there always people walking from left to right in duo's talking in the back. The behavior is unlogical and unreal and makes no sense and the kids are way to smart and wise and all the talking deep stuff blah blah blah blah blah blah. I still think Negan should have killed the whole group in his first episode. And why all the drama when a satelite crashes. What did u think... they would live forever... Get it... live forever. Please... stop it and be over with it. And then Carol comes in with a boat 10 seconds after they looked over the ocean with the hand above the eyes. Dar-roll: blah blah blah blah blah.

Good episode terrible deer
brandonneicke7 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I'm sorry but that deer was ridiculous, it looked like they added some blurry cartoon or something, even when the zombies started eating the thing the guts were so poorly cgi. It's even worst on the walking dead considering the quality of graphics are always top notch it stood out even more. Don't even do that again, I don't care if you have to kill Bambi to get it right. Otherwise descent episode but wish they ended the alphas after season 9

A great start
MomentIMDB6 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I loved that they used formations to fight, since in the war against negan they were pointless shots, now there is strategy. There was great character development and they present the plot very well. I loved the relationship between Daryl and Carol. Something I did not like were uses of CGI something poor, in some scenes where walkers and deer are killed (but not like in 7x12) I loved the cliffjanger, I want Carol and Alpja facing each other. great start to the season

Solid start
braedynh6 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Decent start to the season, and already better than all of Season 5 of fear, It wasn't the most action packed but we were able to see some solid development of most characters and understand where they stand after the pikes. I really liked the satellite crashing storyline as it was something new, I'm glad that Aaron is finally getting some good development, he's a great character but they haven't done a whole lot with him until now imo. Should be a good season providing they pace it right and avoid rushing or dragging on the whisperer storyline

Enjoyable
Tangobaboon227 October 2019
I like the way they are focusing again on the zombies as the groups main obstacle, the whisperers are great because they add a bit more tension to the zombies I also like the focus on the characters trying to survive in a realistic apocalypse and not a home and away styled drama in an apocalypse.

Good opener
Leofwine_draca22 March 2022
This season opener is a surprisingly good episode considering the general quality of the show about now. It opens with some great action and continues to offer interesting catch-up scenes throughout. I could have done without the poncy intertitles though. The zombie attacks seem more vicious and frightening than ever.

Stunned.......
tyshaneyfelt8 October 2019
How are people rating this episode a 10? We have see this same script over and over again. The Walking Dead has lost its zombie vibe long ago and I think there is no going back. This show had a great thing going at the beginning because we felt a connection with the original characters and now I'm emotionally numb. I feel that I need to keep watching because I have vested so much of my time over the years but I don't know how much more I can take. The script writing is absolutely terrible now and it's this show is on its last leg. Very disappointing to say the least

Damn!

Warning: Spoilers
Saw this episode last week but had to wait til now to give this review.

The episode delivers everything you want in a premiere, some action, heartwarming scenes, tension and a nice pace....oh and also an awesome cliffhanger to have the viewers wanting more of what's to come in the next couple of episodes.

First of all whoever came up with the idea to add in a natural element such as a satellite falling from space to cause a forest fire is genius. It's something you don't often see and it provides great action and entertainment.

The heartwarming scenes between Carol and Daryl, Daryl and Connie and finally Michonne with Judith and RJ are well fitted in the episode, some of these scenes may leave the viewer with a tear or two.

The drama and tension created surrounding the whisperers from last season still lingers, they seemed to have disappeared during what I believe to be a 5 month time jump since the Season 9 finale but then little clues like dead bodies and skin lying about seems to make us and the characters uncertain of their whereabouts.

Finally let's talk about the awesome opening which shows the communities training at Oceanside killing walkers in new creative aways such as a shield wall and that awesome ending which we see Carol and Alpha staring each other down.

SEASON 10 !!!
enes-hysein7 October 2019
Ahhh TWD, one of the most inconsistent shows on TV that has finally found its way under the new showrunner Angela Kang, whom i must say did an amazing job last year and seems to be continuing that this year. This episode all and all is a strong start to what seems to be a very different and colorful season. Loved that they finally "re-introduced" and started using the whole Oceanside plot. The whisperer war is near and I couldn't have been more excited. Please keep it up TWD

Quo Vadis Walking Dead?
random-707787 October 2019
Firstly the people rating this "10"are single use accounts or persons who rate every walking dead episode a "10." sorry but viewership numbers and trends are well known and in a constant drop for a reason. and if one looks at the walking dead fan forums sites as well as the subreddit, interest has fallen -- a lot. This episode was a good example of the problem. The new protagonist leadership is neither credible nor interesting. We are in the worsening rut of a principal villain group for a season or two, and in this case the villain is laughable. Who would have thought we need more Negan -- but we do! So many interesting things to do and we are plodding along with the same repetition. Long time viewers blame Kang, and I agree. Long time viewers also are wondering what is with the spears and bows against living human antagonists. It is ludicrous. They maybe better for the dead, but in confrontations with living antagonists the side with firearms wins, period. There are about 500 million guns in the US and BATFE estimated 1/3 to 1/2 a trillion (yes TRILLION, not billion) rounds of small arms ammunition in US military, law enforcement and civilian hands (about 95% civilian due to target shooting). This came up during a prior season silliness about having to ''make" bullets with experts on reddit giving the numbers. The 10,000-30,000 survivors estimated are not going to run out of ammo EVER. The BATFE estimates show that there are -- for each survivor -- 150 million round of ammo or 50 million if only 1/3 of ammo is ever found. You don't bring a knife to a gunfight. Getting shot with even just a .22 in a world with only rudimentary medical care would be likely fatal. A group of five people with two of them having .22s would be able to force surrender of a group of 50 people with spears or bows.

Solid, with a few niggles
jackclark-500148 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Overall, a very solid opener. The writing and organic chemistry between characters has continued to improve over Angela Kang's leadership, and the show is much more refreshing for it. Characters actually feel like real people rather than script-spewing robots, the stakes feel real, and the plotting makes sense. This is not to say the episode is without its problems: the dialogue between Michonne and Aaron felt like it came straight from the pen of Scott Gimple - there is absolutely no need, at this point, to raise the question of whether the group's morals are correct - this has been done a billion times, and Aaron's delivery in particular felt forced. Some of the editing was also very peculiar - the scene at the end of the episode where the group extinguish the fire seemed to transition from night to day in the blink of an eye. I understand that they likely WERE tackling the blaze through the night, but the cut was so jarring and immediate that it tarnished an otherwise nice set piece. Also - the scene in which we were introduced to Dante was bizarre for all the wrong reasons. He was written to be unlikeable, obviously, but it really asks you to suspend your disbelief that of a person of his character could of survived this long in the apocalypse. Aside from those gripes, however, I'm very much looking forward to the rest of the season!

Great starting season!
juanmascarenhas6 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
With the whisperers of disappeared, we have a feeling of fear and tension, when we see the survivors invading the territory of Alpha, with a mistrust of a zombie that appears, end up being one of them and killing someone.

Great season premier that grabs you with the thrills and drama.
cruise017 October 2019
5 out of 5 stars.

The episode starts out good. Showing the survivors spread out into different communities. Keeping a security and lookout for threats from Whisperers. Daryl and Carols scene together was touching. Talking about other things in life than fighting bad guys all the time. The training on the beach as Michonne and her people are training for battle using zombies on a washed up boat was awesome.

The writing is balanced with the characters. The music score in this one is great. Has a different score to add with them battling with the zombies. The action is good. The story is opening up for a possible battle with the whisperers. The first episode is an awesome one.

The Walking Dull
Tony-hughes19727 October 2019
This show really has fallen by the way. This limping, rotting empty corpse of a show needs a spike through the skull.

Don't let this fester like The Simpsons where it ambles along because it makes money. Get new writers in, and give it a new lease of life or, for all our sakes, kill it off.
