- Andy heads to a familiar place with a companion as memories of her childhood come flooding back. Flashbacks reveal the Quellers' struggles after Oslo.
- In the past, Jane is taken to a cell, where she sees drawings on the wall. Charlie tells her that 4 years is a long time (indicating that she was imprisoned for 4 yrs in exchange for the plea bargain and entry into the witness protection program). He tells her that Laura Randall does not even have a ticket and offers to talk her through their deal. He tells her the details behind her new identity and she sees that both her and Andy's birthdays were changed. She is told that she would go to Belle Isle in Georgia so she would not have enough trouble. Laura asks about Nick and Charlie says that they would get him, but he only wants her to focus on being Laura.
Andy sits in front of the diner where her mom left her and is approached by Charlie. Andy tells him the details of the car she was in, but Jane had already switched the plates.
When Jane had cancer, Andy stays with her mother, who tells her to go home. Andy refuses at first, but ends up going to the cafeteria. In flashback, in a car, the radio tells the group that Maplecroft and another man had been killed. Andrew, Jane, Paula, and Nick all make it to a house, where he approaches Eli and his wife Carla, calling them lifesavers. Eli offers them all they need as Nick goes to help Andrew unpack. When Andrew gets out of the van, he collapses and the group sees that he had been shot. Jane wants to take him to a doctor, but Nick refuses.
Charlie tells Andy that they checked the location she had given them, but found nothing. She tells him that she saw two people get shot and she still thinks it is her uncle behind the attempt to get the suitcase. Charlie says that Michael had been moved to a secure location and was stable. As for her mother, there had been no luck tracking her phone. He tells her that Nick is around there somewhere, which is why she had left. Andy thanks Charlie for everything he had done, so he mentions that he was with her mother in the delivery room and was the second person to have held her. He says that perhaps her mother had gone up North.
While getting chemotherapy, Jane still tries to ignore the woman next to her (who had asked for a pen and was attempting to chat her up) and says that the trip she wants to plan does not matter and wants her to shut up because they would never do anything again since they were dying. Andy asks her mother if she was really ready to die, since she wants her to make an effort and wants to know why she is not even trying. Jane says that her life did not begin when Andy was born and tells her daughter that she believes she had only come home because she had nothing better to do and wants her to get a life. Andy tells her not not shut her out because she wants her alive.
On the news, Jane watches Jasper say that the Army of the Changing World were terrorists, so Nick gets angry and shuts the TV off, saying that they should bomb him and his precious company, which Jane says he cannot do. Nick asks why he could not do it, so Jane asks if he is not simply wanting revenge because it was getting hard to tell. She goes to help Andrew as Nick walks away. Jane sees that Andrew has a fever and asks why he had not said anything. He says that he is dying for something he believes in, which makes Jane realize he was just like Nick. She asks him to let her take him to a hospital, but he refuses. Jane tells her brother he is pregnant and hopes that she has a daughter. Walking to a basket, Jane takes out a bag which has a cassette; listening to it and hearing Nick telling Jasper how to act when Martin is killed.
Nick approaches her and asks what she was doing. Jane responds that she would take Andrew to a hospital because he would not make it, which Nick knows and is ready to accept. Nick says that he did not want those things to happen, telling her that the world had broken them, but they had been able to find each other. She shoves him. Nick tells her that Eli would take them to the border and help them, but she refuses. He grabs her and shoves her to the ground, telling her that if she ever left him, he would scorch the world to find her, punching her in the face.
At chemotherapy, Jane is told that the woman she found annoying had been moved to hospice care. She visits her and says that she was always cheerful, apologizing for how she had behaved. Jane says that her only real dream is freedom, having lived through terrible things and needing to lock her old self away. She says that hiding for thirty years is not a choice, but captivity.
After Jane was hurt by Nick, she walked up on him and knocked him out, taking Andrew to the van (along with the ransom money and the tape with Jasper and Nick's voices on it) and thanking Eli's wife. At the hospital, Jasper walks into the room, but Andrew was already dead. Jasper says that there was an FBI agent outside and tells her to say that she had been brainwashed by Andrew and Nick. Jane tells him to stop, but Jasper says that they could deal with the situation. Jane says that she would turn herself in and move on with her life after doing her time, telling that he needed to use profits from the company to make amends or she would ruin his life. Jane says that she knows about both him and Nick's side deal, which he pretends to not know about. She says that she has him on tape. He admits that he did not know Nick was going to kill him and tells her that they need to look out for each other. However, Jane refuses and leaves the room. Jane walks out of the hospital room to an FBI agent, telling him that she knows who killed Alex Maplecroft and where he could find him. However, she says that she wants a deal first.
Andy asks Charlie how Nick had not been caught the first time and Charlie says that he got close, but he had managed to slip away, so he believed that he had help. Andy wonders if Nick really hates her mother and Charlie says that Nick had a lot of time to think about what had happened. All of a sudden, Andy sees a car headed straight for them, which crashes right into them at a very high speed.
Andy wakes up in a bed with bruises. She remembers when Clara used to take care of her because she was now in the same house years later. One night, Clara walked into her tool shed after hearing some noise, but did not see anyone. The next day, Andy went to play with her dolls and is approached by Nick, who tells her that he saved her dolls, who were going to fall into lava. He asks where her mother is, and Andy says she is gone and is now growing flowers. She tells him her name, which he recognizes. Eli and Clara start calling for Andy, so Nick says goodbye. He gives her a coin and says that as long as she had it, it would mean he would come back.
Later, Andy sees Jane (after she is released from prison after 4 yrs), who tells her she is beautiful. Andy has a hard time getting close to her mother, who hugs her and tells her that she got her some presents. Clara tells Andy that she would now go with Jane, but Andy does not want to leave. Andy runs away and Jane approaches her, trying to convince her to go with her at first, but forcing her when she spit on her. Clara hugs Andy and takes her to the car where Charlie is waiting and they all get in.
In the car, Jane asks Andy if she can see what she has in her hand, but Andy does not want to show her. Jane says that she knows she is scared but they need to figure out how to be a team together. Andy opens her hand and Jane sees Nick's nickel, which makes her ask how she had gotten it. However, Andy does not respond. In the present, Andy walks down the stairs at Eli's house. There, she sees Nick waiting for her. He says that she had been sleeping all day and introduces himself, telling her that he is her father.
