A Review from someone who dislikes this show.
EddyTheMartian00728 March 2019
I'm gonna be honest. I don't like this show at all, I think it's mediocre at best, and pretty bad for the most part, but suddenly we've been getting some pretty solid episodes this season. Now the 8/10 doesn't mean this episode on its own is an great. I mean for Supergirl standards it's a 8/10. On its own it's okay I guess, but this is seriously one of Supergirl's best episodes.

I didn't think Cyryer could pull it off, but he actually gives a pretty good performance as Lex Luthor. I'm surprised the writers actually let an episode like this happen. We don't even get any of the main cast this episode. Only for about a minute in the beginning and ends of the episode. That's probably why I liked it this much.

Lex is actually one of the better written chracters on Supergirl. I appreciate how they actually seemed to have tried. He's manipulative, and has this big silly plan, but it shows how smart he is, and he's one of the more accurate interpretations of Lex Luthor.

I also enjoyed the build up of the Daughter of Steel. Most of the times Supergirl barely develops their villains, but they developed her pretty well. Melissa Beonist does a pretty good job as this Russian version of Supergirl, but I feel like she should've shown a bigger difference when the Russian Supergirl tries to act like the normal supergirl.

Anyways for once I actually enjoyed and episode of Supergirl, which was nice. Supergirl finally seems to be improving.

The show got me hook, line and sinker.

Warning: Spoilers
Me and my brother have followed Supergirl since season 1, same as we have with every superhero show out there on CW. We have both complained all season how the show is too much on the nose with it's political commentary, despite myself being left-wing, I was finding it too juvenile and simplistic at times and fully admit I was ready to give up.

But to find out Lex has been behind everything the entire season was something I didn't see coming, whether that's good writing or a massive miss on my part, I don't care, today's episode is great. I'm not comparing Jon Cryer to Gene or Michael and their versions of Lex, they all were different takes on the same character and I'm really enjoying Jon Cryer's, ruthlessly unapologetic, charming and very manipulative and always one step ahead.

Although he's typically a Superman nemesis, by extension he is one of Supergirl as he is all Kryptonians.

I think the show has been clever showing us how easy it is to manipulate people who are already angry, scared and feeling betrayed and let down and Lex fed into that and sowed the seeds of discontent not because he agrees with them, but because it needed to happen for his plan and he has played Ben Lockwood like a puppet and is pulling every string, I bet he was even behind the President giving Lockwood the position as Head of Alien Affairs, he wants this conflict to happen, but the irony is lost on Lex that without his meddling and schemes, none of this would happen so he makes the wildly theoretical a reality.

It's classic Lex and I admit I loved every minute of today's show.

It's been crying out for something different, clever and captivating, I just hope it finishes strong too, especially if next season is the last one.

Definitely looking forward to next week and that's something I haven't said in a long time about this season and the show in general.

Fantastic episode!

I love this episode! It was (perhaps) the best Supergirl episode ever. We finally got to learn about Red Daughter and see what Lex has been up to. If you like them then this episode is for you. And Melissa is such a good actress.

One of the best episodes of the entire series!

Warning: Spoilers
I seriously do not get why the episode has such a low right. It deserves to be in the 9's at the very least. And I read some of the 1 Star reviews, and they're just plain wrong about this episode!

I love that we finally get a Red Daughter episode! The Red Daughter is being manipulated into working for the bad guys, and I think when/if she ever fully figures this out, she'll turn on them, and help Supergirl. As we saw, she knows that Supergirl/ Kara is a good person. But also, based off of the promo for the next episode, she'll do some major damage to Supergirls reputation.

I was very skeptical about Jon Cryer play Lex Luthor, but I'm actually loving his Lex! Which is truly surprising to me.

I liked the time jumps, and how they hinted exactly where they were when they were showing them, but apparently it confused some people. Those people must not be paying much attention when watching the show.

Best Episode Ever
pjunioroliveira26 March 2019
This show is getting better and better since Jon Cryer appeared, with an amazing version of Lex Luthor, he is probably the best thing on the entire show, Melissa Benoist acting as Red Daughter was amazing, there is a specific part in this episode that she nailed it completly, you can feel the emotion of the scene! I'm not a fan of Supergirl show, but since Lex Luthor has showed up, i'm turning into one!

Now we're talking

Warning: Spoilers
It is never pretty to eat crow, but I will eat it and enjoy it tonight.

When Season 4 of Supergirl started there was this huge air of political propaganda in every episode, there seemed to be no clear story, no Big Bad this time around just agendas, but boy, were we wrong? There was so much more than that, we should have seen it coming from the writing on the wall and the arrival of Ottis and Mercy Graves, everything that has happened this Season is the work of one of the most despicable and horrible beings in the whole Arrowverse, Lex Luthor.

Jon Cryer reprises his role from last week, and he truly shows how deep his hatred for Kryptonians is, and how far and low he is willing to go to get rid of them. Cryer gives a solid performance, even better than last week's. This time around he is more callous, more ruthless, less emotional. Last time he had Lena fooled but this time around he doesn't need to fake anything. Superman's greatest adversary has arrived with a bang.

In this episode we learn that the clone of Kara Zor-El that was created by the Harun-El has been trained as a weapon by a communist regime who themselves have been played like marionettes by Luthor, who has trained his Red Daughter to become the weapon that proes to the world that aliens are a threat, and he is the savior the world needs, and he will spare nothing, no one to claim vengeance on the Man of Tomorrow, and his cousin, Supergirl.

I rate this episode 10 out of 10, keep em' coming.

To all those giving it a 1 star screw you
rsanderson-8093126 March 2019
People are rating this episode a 1 star saying it's the worst episode yet. I know they are lying and have probably not watched the episode. They just want it cancelled. Why can't they leave it alone. That way those that like the show can still watch it without it getting cancelled. Your taking a show away from the fans. Can't you leave it and let us enjoy a show we like? Instead of taking it away from us? Can't you just not watch the show if you don't like it? It's not that difficult. When you keep being haters just leave because your being selfish and arrogant. I understand that shows have ratings for a reason and I get if you genuinely didn't like the episode then that's ok but some people are abusing the system. Leave it if you don't like it.

At last its a superhero show

This was the best episode ever. It was pure comic book story with none of the endless tedious social preaching of the characters.

This show is dead
asemasaleh25 March 2019
When you think it can't get worse, the producers surprise you and present a new level of bad! Not only the story has become childish, the acting of some (such as Lex Luther) is the worst I have ever seen in ten years.

Red scare?
nickgeorgiou131 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Well it seems to me that this episode and the ones before about Kaznia and the Harun El SUpergirl, are promoting red scare. I am really dissapointed about that. Supergirl since 1st season promoted social matters, which I loved. But this last season, I don't like the way it's heading. Saving children of "liberty"? Go against the Elite?

Eh.
cruise015 September 2019
2.5 out of 5 stars.

Loved the concept with a Russian Supergirl. The duplicate. And her trying to be more. Lex taking advantage of manipulating her. The direction, script, and story is uneven and boring. The episode is all over the place with the time line. Sure there are plot holes.
