Martin does America
safenoe20 November 2020
Being a fan of Doc Martin, I was naturally drawn to Martin's tour of the islands of the USA where he catches up with locals and learns salsa in Puerto Rico, the rum capital of the world. Martin is very respectful the diversity of the USA, and maybe he can eventually tour the islands of Canada. Also good to see that as a Brit, Martin doesn't experience difficulty driving on the other side of the road.

Interesting series

Martin Clunes does a great job hosting this series. He provides a great deal of information about each island area and makes me appreciate not only the number of islands in the US, but how many people still live on the remote ones. Every area is unique with it's own culture.

Listen to Those Interviewed
rdms87-149-6120722 November 2022
Unlike a review I read here, I listened carefully to those interviewed on Martin Clunes' travels. Island living is a unique lifestyle--we get just a slice of that lifestyle in this series. Real Americans are sharing their take on where they live--honest words there. Similar interviews can be found from the late Anthony Bourdain.

The trip to the Gullah community was especially poignant. We are literally losing more land each year, due to climate change, and poorly planned development, such as in Hawaii. In other places, dedicated people are helping more species survive.

Highly recommended, especially if you value our vast wilderness.

World class!!!

Absolutely THE BEST person to do travel and discovery shows. Mr. Clunes is world class and ALL class. He makes an effort to learn the language, as well as the people, traditions, and the environments he will be visiting. Not only that but his shows are by far the most interesting I've seen when it comes to travel. Lastly, he shows a beautiful heart, soul and humanity. I loved Doc Martin... but I would love to see more of these shows from Mr. Clunes. Couldn't find anyone better, TRULY! I truly hope we see more of these types of travel and experience shows from Mr. Clunes! Not only one of my favorite actors, but now... one of my favorite travel and adventure champions! Thank you! MORE PLEASE!

Makes You Not Appreciate
westsideschl17 September 2019
You get the following in this doc: 1. A few minutes at each location of small plane view of landscape. OK, but not memorable or enlightening. 2. Lots of local touristy hooks like food, fireworks, shops, and in the case of Washington State a cannabis garden. Californian Channel Islands you get seals. Louisiana you get more food (Tabasco sauce manufacturing, and crabs). 3. Each spot gets a few minutes of history usually a few old photos. Summation: Very cheap commercial touristy. No depth of understanding or relevance to what makes an island unique.
