Interesting show for me to watch as a gay white atheist. I haven't watched a show like this in a long time, where I feel like I'm definitely not the target audience. I almost feel like a voyeur watching a program that's not meant for me.
The other scary thing is that I have a foot fetish, so seeing the episode whip out bare feet almost straight away had me a bit discombobulated and excited.
Ramy has this unique ability to draw in a viewer very subtly. He seems so understated and genuine that you can't help but fall in love with him to some extent. The real beauty of the show isn't in finding laughs like a typical comedy show, but rather in just getting to hang out with Ramy and experience the world through his eyes.
I loved the actress who portrayed his sister. Her lines were fantastic.
The highlight for me is definitely the backseat car choking Scene. I thought it was acted brilliantly, was unexpected and raises some really thought provoking ideas about expectations and stereotypes.
I'm definitely interested to see more, as this first episode had Some real Glimmers of brilliance.
