To the delight of viewers "Titus & Fien TV" kept supporting the tradition of saint Nicolas and the Black Pieten. Some TV programs have decided to modify or completely avoid the tradition in response to a small group of activists. Some of these activists have even broken the law during their unwanted actions.
Seeing how the reactions from workers on the studio set are during filming the studio 'De Buurvrouw' was probably named after Daphny Muriloff. She was executive producer for the TV program "Telekids" in the 1990s. She was known for not being able to prevent herself from laughing when the hosts of "Telekids" were trying to be funny, which resulted in her laughing being heard during the live airing.
It seems to be shown onscreen that Titus & Fien TV seems to keep supporting the tradition of Saint Nicholas and Black Pete. Especially 'Fryslan' (the Dutch province Friesland) seems to be a returning joke. In 2017 a group of citizens from Friesland blocked buses full of activists that planned on going to demonstrate against the national 'Saint Nicholas & Black Pete' event that kept performing Black Pete. 95 percent of the people of the Netherlands support Black Pete, which means although the blockers broke the law and were punished - they were received as heroes by many other Dutch citizens.
In the episodes a crew member named 'Stijn' is regularly labeled as being 'grumpy' by Titus. It is possible this a reference to actor Stijn Mac Gillavry, he is known for playing a national adaption of 'Black Pete' which has much less soot on his face. Because 95 percent of the people of the Netherlands favors Black Pete in it's traditional style (with a completely black face) it is to be assumed that Stijn Mac Gillavry is criticized by the audience for being a changed Black Pete, possibly changing the appearance of Black Pete in reaction to a small group of activists of which some have even broken the law like in for example unfairly accusing Black Pete portrayors as being racists - or pushing and oral fighting against children.
In September 2020 four additional special episodes were made for "Lach voor een Dag": a foundation established to give sick children a fun day.
