The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course (2002)
If you love the series, you will LOVE the movie!
As I walked into the theater, I wasn't sure what to expect. I am very much a Crocodile Hunter TV fan, but I didn't know if they could carry this genre to the Big Screen. Well it was done, and done very well. The movie starts with the disappearance of vital information in a small capsule from a spy satellite that self-destructs after it's orbit is compromised. The capsule manages to survive re-entry and ends up landing right in front of a wonderful Salty that has this capsule for a snack. Enter: Steve and Terri Irwin. The movie is interlaced in a very smooth fashion between the usual documentary style fare that we are used to seeing on the Irwin's TV Series and the comedic tale of the CIA thinking that the Irwins are Spies and The Irwins thinking the CIA are poachers. Throw in a hilarious bumbling buxom Aussie Farm Owner (named Brozzie) who hates Crocs and all manor of the legal system, and you have a great combination of comedy, education and entertainment! A side note and hint: For you die hard Croc fans (as I am), look closely in Brozzie's house at photographs. You will laugh till your eyes water!
The end of this movie comes far too soon, but the message gets across to everyone that sees it...Animal Conservation is the main goal of this Bigger than Life Husband and Wife team and it will be till the day that they quit breathing. It's a great message for our kids and for our future.
All profits of this movie go to Animal Conservation, and if the movie does well, they are off to rescue 20 Elephants in Asia. Let's help make this dream come true for the Irwin family!
My only criticism of this film is that Terri is far too quiet, with very little dialogue, and it's quick ending. But it is a very good movie...worth the money! I will definitely be seeing it again and hopefully it will come out on DVD/VHS..I will definitely buy it!
Enjoy this movie...and Remember ..Crocs Rule!
Dante's Peak (1997)
Great Special Effects and good story line
Don't let negative comments sway your judgement. See this movie yourself to decide. The Special effects are good...though sometimes outweighing the storyline a bit...but doesn't real life sometimes do that? Great Acting on Pierce Brosnan's part...he shows a real meatiness in this that he hasn't been able to really show in the 007 series. The scene in the mine where he is struggling between life, death, fear is one of his best moments I think.
Good movie and great special effects...and I lived through Mt Saint Helens in Washington in person...the ash scenes and darkness looked very realistic to me.
Get out the popcorn and watch this one for some pretty good on the edge of your seat entertainment.
Under the Lighthouse Dancing (1997)
A Story of Love, Life and Friends.
This film is a True Story based on actual events, focusing on Emma, her fiance Harry, and their 4 friends. The overlying theme is of a wedding that almost does not come to pass due to Harry's lack of planning! The main focus of these two characters and their friends centers on life in all it's beautiful and rich tapestry of colors. The story line is a masterpiece that flows skillfully and magically, with the actors and the Photography weaving their talent together in almost an effortless way. The scenery alone is worth taking the time out to watch this movie, but I am glad to say that the story and acting come together well.
This movie is a must for romantics, and definitely geared towards the female viewer. I can't stress how beautiful the photography is, and how it could be considered the co-star along with the leading actors in this movie. The Director masterfully weaves the sceneries with the emotions of the two main characters, Harry & Emma. Each time I watch the movie, I see subtle nuances in the filming that portray so many strong and beautiful emotions.
Ladies, get out the tissue boxes, prepare to cry, laugh and marvel through this movie, and revel in the message that lies beneath the whole story. It's a message of love, life and Hope at it's best. Don't let the lower ratings seen here deter you....It's a Wonderful Movie!
Enjoy!
Our Vines Have Tender Grapes (1945)
A heart-warming tale of rural life in the 1940's for an immigrant family.
This movie is a wonderful story about farm life in 1940's Wisconsin starring Edward G Robinson, Margaret O'Brien and Agnes Moorehead.
E.G. Robinson's role in this movie is a vast departure from his usual Tough Guy and Gangster films. He plays a very warm and tender hearted Father and Husband who owns a small farm in rural Wisconsin. His portrayal is superb, and totally surprised me!
Margaret O'Brien plays 7 year old Selma, in a performance that is outstanding. From moments of usual Child-like Innocence, to subtle yet profound moments of Fear, Joy, Anger and Sadness, this performance is one of her best that I have ever seen!
Agnes Moorehead plays the Matriarch of the family, a stern, yet loving wife and mother, who stands by her husband with unwavering faith and shows her daughter what life is all about with love, tenderness and truth.
This movie captivated me, charmed me, and opened my eyes to small town America in the 1940's, and shows a wonderfully simple style of life, that I wish we could all go back to. I hope you will enjoy this movie!
