Little Nicky (2000)
One of Adam Sandler's Better Films
Little Nicky is definitely one of Adam Sandler's better films. Most of his movies I tend to find funny, yet very disappointing. However, I was not disappointed at all by "Little Nicky". Once again, I find myself scratching my head as to how critics could have bashed something this good. I was laughing hysterically throughout the entire film. I liked the elaborate plot and the effects. This may not have been the best role Adam Sandler has ever played, but the rest of the cast was excellent. Harvey Keitel rocked as the Prince of Darkness. And all the cameos, which i will not give away, made the film that much more enjoyable. I wholeheartedly recommend this movie to anybody that wants to go to the movies and have a good time.
Firestorm (1998)
Fun Action film for the Fans
Firestorm is one of those movies in which the moviegoer should be able to have fun watching this movie. Firestorm has good special effects, excellent action scenes, and a star who in my opinion is one of the coolest men in America. Firestorm may not win any academy awards, but that's not the intention of the film. Firestorm has good actors, such as Scott Glenn and William Forsythe, who have the experience to make a meaningless character much more than that. Howie Long does an exceptional job in Firestorm. It's pretty apparent that the movie is catered around him. Howie Long combines the tough-guy persona with a likeable charm. He shows in Firestorm why he is where is today. Hopefully, we'll be seeing a lot more films with Howie Long.
Wyatt Earp (1994)
Accurate, yet very long version of the Earps.
There have been many movies that have been made about the life of Wyatt Earp and the events that he was a part of in the Historic West. What marks this movie is that it is the most accurate depiction of what transpired in the life of Wyatt Earp. Lawrence Kasdan, the director, did an excellent job in making sure that the film was almost true to life. The cinematography of the movie was top-notch. The first half of the movie is pure Western magic, which had me in awe. The second half of the movie, however, while still highly accurate, was not all that interesting. Overall, the movie did an excellent job in portraying Wyatt Earp the man, not the legend. The acting was pretty good. Kevin Costner portrayed Wyatt Earp, and his display of Wyatt's transformation was effective, although I felt that he was a little too wooden in the second half of the movie. Dennis Quaid gave a lot for this movie; he lost 42 pounds to play the role of Doc Holliday. His portrayal of Doc will be drawing comparisons with Val Kilmer's portrayal in Tombstone for years to come. I recommend this movie, but I give a warning. This is the type of movie in which you should know something about the material before you see the film. If you are not a fan of Westerns or have never heard of Tombstone, AZ, then this is not the film for you.
Drive (1997)
Excellent Martial Arts for Straight to Cable
Drive is a good movie for straight to cable, which really doesn't say that much. While the plot was pretty much brainless, there were a lot of good action sequences in the film which more than made up for the lack of plot. It was pretty apparent that a lot of work went into the making of the action scenes. Mark Dacascos did a hell of a job in this film, and I even liked the chemistry between him and Kadeem Hardison. Dacascos is the type of actor that should be seen more on the big screen instead of the little one.
Tombstone (1993)
One of the finest westerns ever filmed. Excellent...
One of the finest westerns ever filmed. Excellent action. A very good script. The cast was amazing. Val Kilmer should have received an Oscar for his role as Doc Holiday. The movie was probably about 90% accurate historically, but was one of the best retellings of what had occured.
