Fascinating, prophetic film featuring all of Susan Dey!
24 October 2001
Mr. Friedman's review says it all. I loved this film when I first saw it and have never forgotten it. The premise includes the notion that, one day, it will be possible for computers to create lifelike images of real people. 20 yrs. later, we're still working on it, but close. Haven't seen it in a long time but remember it was dramatic and well executed. And yes, I'd personally see this film again just for that scene of Susan Dey's gorgeous bod being turned on a pedestal, being laser scanned into a computer.

Truly a gem! A "must-see"! Classic!
25 December 1998
I've rented this gem several times! It's a small, yet somehow sprawling masterpiece taking the viewer from Manhattan glitz to the beauty of the Greek islands. John Cassavetes on-screen marriage to his real-life wife Gena Rowlands is on the rocks. He finds meaning in a fling with footloose Susan Sarandon whom he finds in Greece while their daughter, played in her earliest film role by the pubescent Molly Ringwald, falls for the son of the Greek shipping tycoon who is courting her mother on a yacht sailing in neighboring waters. Meanwhile, the immensely talented Raul Julia plays a goatherd living in a cave with his Sony Trinitron. He has the "hots" for Molly Ringwald's character until confronted by John Cassavetes. All comes together at the end in a classic closing scene where all is reconciled. Raul Julia, the goatherd, is seen dancing with his goat. This film is full of mysticism, beauty, young and old love, humor, sexiness, and more. See it!

Good show, esp. for Debra Winger fans
25 December 1998
Find Debra Winger here in her prime! She provides one of the most sensual and realistic if not explicit, sex scenes I have seen in "A" cinema in the last 20 years. Beyond that, I found a most entertaining romantic saga. Perhaps the reviewer who found it unrealistic forgets that this was released in 1982 and was only intended to be entertainment.

Pia Zadora at her most sensual!
25 December 1998
This is sort of a classic in the sultry, steamy sensuality arena, as it was defined early in the 1980s. Pia, like Laura Dern and others did later, appears in alluringly sheer hot weather clothes that will keep most red-blooded males captivated! These are all the more captivating when set in the early part of this century.

Nashville (1975)
Recollection of filming
25 December 1998
Just wanted to offer my recollection of the filming of a segment of Nashville. All were scattered on the lawn in front of The Parthenon, the focal point of a park located next door to where I lived in Nashville at that time. I remember being able to walk among the stars involved in the production as they sat casually on the grass. Geraldine Chaplin was particularly captivating. I'm glad it became such a classic!

Brief recollection of subject of film
11 October 1998
As there are no other reviews presently offered, I'll offer my recollection that this film was a rather dark, disturbing tale of an incestuous relationship between a mother, (Jill Clayburg), and her drug-addicted son.
