Eichmann (2007)
A waste of time, and an insult for intelligence
When a film's starting sentence is 'based on a true story' or if you know that the story behind the film actually took place, you expect at least the facts to be close to reality. I'll put aside the embarrassing mistakes in Hebrew (didn't you have Israeli actors on the set?), what troubles me more is the inaccuracies in historical facts, and the actual 'creation' of allegedly legal documentations that never existed. Furthermore, the addition of plot lines that portray Eichmann as a brutal murderer, and as a 'valentino', are not correct, add nothing to the plot (apart from the female nudity, which is entirely not required in this movie), and miss the horrible fact that Eichmann, like many many officers in the German Reich was a gray man, who just filed documents that sent millions to their death. This movie is a shame for the viewers' intelligence. Ignoring the historical errors and the made up plot lines, the movie itself is not interesting, the characters are superficial and empty, and if there's an intention to create a 'duel' between Eichmann and Less, it is artificial and is futile.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
Movie for children
I went to this movie with much expectation, since I am very fond of Fantasy books and movies, and was disappointed, just like I was disappointed from the book.
This is a kid's movie, one that you'll take your 10 year old brother or 8 year old daughter. Definitely not a movie for people who are over 18 (just like the book, in my opinion at least).
But then again, the book and the movie broke selling records all over the world, so I must be wrong... Amazing production, for kids. If I were a minor, I'd give it 12 out of 10 on the Big Max scale. Since I'm not, 2 out of 10 is more likely.
The Big Lebowski (1998)
Truly a cult movie
This movie is one of the most shallow yet so so deep movies I've ever seen. So many bizzar characters (which have nothing to do with the plot - what plot???) The plot - none exsistant, at least not a real one. John Goodman was AMAZING. Every muscle in his body yells: "I'm Walter" in this movie. Jeff Bridges was excellent as well, doing a great Dude, one of the best characters I've seen on screen. I watch this movie again and again, and enjoy it every time. The dreams sequences are great, the "erotic" bowling shots are great, and of course "nobody fucks up with the Gesus".
10 out of 10.
Contact (1997)
One of the best films I've seen for a long time
This is one of the best films I've seen in a while, a film that leaves you thinking for a long time after the end titles are already over. The main idea is more or less like that of Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which is a HUGE film by itself, but this film deals more with the spiritual aspect of the human-alien contact - is there a god out there. I like the change that Jody Foster's character had during the film: how everything she believes in as a scientist stands against her. However, there was a little too much "Shmaltz" in the movie. 9 in the Big Max chart
