Buried Secrets (1996 TV Movie)
Solid Story: No Gimmicks, No Gore!
9 August 2001
If you enjoy human interaction (drama) with a few twists and shocks, you may find this film to be worthwhile. I had not intended to watch a movie as I was channel surfing, but this one drew me in instantly. It's a story about several women whose lives intertwine in a hypnotic tale of deceit, denial and devastation. Two young women from different sides of the "veil" form a bond which leads to the identification of a previously unsuspected killer.

All in all, it's a very satisfying tale centered in a small New England town. A woman, after losing her husband, returns with her daughter to her childhood home town. She's maneuvered into renting the town's "unrentable home." She soon discovers why no one has lived there in many years as her daughter is drawn into the town's darkest secrets.

DRAMA Tough, Real, Difficult.
17 June 2001
There is humor. It's dry and not meant for belly laughs. It's about people who meet late in life and bring a child into the world. It demonstrates that life is difficult in a superficial world as this movie shows the pain that people feel in a modern America. We see how people can live together and never honestly come together as human beings.

This Movie Is Drama/Mystery... Not Shoot 'em up bang, bang...
18 May 2001
The Chemistry between Winger and Nolte is very dry. If you need a lot of blood, gun play and explosions then this movie is not for you. It unfolds in a tortured manner which I happen to enjoy. The people of this small town are not flashy or larger than life, They are ordinary and have settled into a predictable pattern. The importance of each character is presented to us in an unpredictable sequence which tends to keep the audience off balance and somewhat unsettled. Most of the interplay is understated- another feature which, in an era of grandiosity, is refreshing. If the viewer has the patience to allow the story to unfold the reward will be well worth the investment of time.

Depressing and disjointed.
24 September 2000
A very difficult movie to watch. The distraction of jumping from scene to scene (especially in the first 2 hours) proved to be most irritating. It is almost as though, the director didn't want the audience to enjoy the movie. It had the feel of someone picking lengths of film off the floor and randomly splicing them together.

There was a wonderful story as well as excellent acting... The sad truth is that the editing was just awful...

I guess that this is an example of the current trend in movie making.

A snap shot of a world in transition!
16 October 1999
Here, we see a multi-faceted view of the movement: FROM >an immature 'rock and roll' era TO the far more developed >ROCK era... Remembering that we are witnessing the infancy of what we would ultimatly call 'classic rock' we >can almost feel the labor-pains of a transitiion in progress... The performers were as diverse as the fans >that would come to worship them and each had a notion of >the world as it existed in that time... All-in-all, a snap >shot of the U. S. A. in the mid 60's.
