The Sentinel (1977)
Still the worst movie I have ever seen
I saw The Sentinel when it was first released, and to this day it is still the WORST movie I have ever seen. And when a 17-year-old male can see that much nudity from Deborah Raffin and Beverly D'Angelo and come away with a negative impression, it has to be a really BAD movie. I can't imagine how much they had to pay great stars like Ava Gardner, José Ferrer and Burgess Meredith to agree to take part. The cast also includes Martin Balsam, Arthur Kennedy, Eli Wallach, Christopher Walken, Jerry Orbach, William Hickey, Chris Sarandon, John Carradine, and Sylvia Miles (as well as appearances from newcomers Tom Berenger, Nana Visitor, Jeff Goldblum, and Charles Kimbrough) and STILL it stinks to the high heavens! Nonsensical story, horrible script, and gratuitous grotesquery. Avoid like the plague.
Three O'Clock High (1987)
An overlooked gem
This is just a terrific movie. Well written, well cast, well acted. I do not understand why this never reached more of an audience.
I am also surprised that the young cast has not gone on to become better known. Casey Siemaszko and Richard Tyson continue to act and act well, but are not generally well-known. The fabulous Caitlin O'Heaney ("Tales of the Gold Monkey") pretty much disappeared from the screen after this movie, and little more was ever seen of cute Stacey Glick, Anne Ryan, Mike Jolly, or even pretty Liza Morrow, who all were fine in this movie.
This is one of the best of the '80s teen movies. Don't pass it by.
Bambi Meets Godzilla (1969)
Classic!
I saw this in an animated film compilation back in the 1970's.
The film is only 2 minutes long, but you will remember it forever. Do yourself a favor and do not pass an opportunity to see this great cartoon.
