Cute
12 May 1999
I'm a big fan of the TV show (my younger sister never misses it; I can't help but see a few minutes of it nearly every day), and I knew eventually a big-screen version would be made. I rented it and watched it on my own one Sunday morning. Okay, so it wasn't as good as I expected, but it was still worth renting. I didn't think that the musical scenes fit well with the rest of the movie, and Angelica really didn't have enough screen time. Chuckie was, as always, an adorable coward. Tommy was the cute little leader, and Phil and Lil were as charming as ever as bickering twins. A nice new addition to the cast was Baby Dil. Seeming to be a brat, you eventually warm up to him. Many a play on words were used, which always cracked me up. Computer animation was cool. And I must admit, as pathetic as it seems, there were a few scenes where I actually cried! Rent it if you're into cartoons, but otherwise, you might want to stay away from it. 8 out of 10.

For a video...
7 December 1998
Okay, so it wasn't the greatest movie ever made. And the mixed animation was slightly whacked (everything was hand drawn, except for Forté, which was done by computer), but for a movie that went straight to video, it was pretty cool. It was cute, had enough jokes, and the romance was there, too. And it takes place before the Beast becomes human, so it gives you a look at what else happened when Belle was in the castle in the first video. For a quick Christmas rental, it's cool.

Not too bad...
24 November 1998
All right, this wasn't the best movie ever made, but I thought it was pretty good. It isn't predictable, as indicted before. And it's amazing what can happen to one family over a period of a few years. It's greatly exaggerated, of course, but I still enjoyed it. I thought that the actors did an okay job, and the story itself was very romantic and dramatic--it was enough to bring tears to my eyes at a few points. It's one of those movies that are meant to affect you, even in the smallest way. It isn't the greatest, but worth renting, even if just for the story.

A beautiful re-telling of Cinderella
14 August 1998
Cinderella has always been one of my favorite fairy tales, and now that they've updated it, it's even better. Cinderella is a strong, confident woman, who can stand up for herself. The scenery is gorgeous, the costumes magnificent, the prince charming at times, and the stepfamily just wicked. A nicely done movie, if I do say so.
