The Stand (1994)
read the book
24 December 1998
Someone originally made me watch this mini-series that he had on tape. I was very impressed with it even though it was a television movie. The whole time I was watching it my friend was raving about how much better the book was. I like the movie so much (8/10) that I broke down and bought the unabridged edition of it. It took a painstaking 3 months to read the book. It was tiresome at first, but at the end I didn't want the story to end. I also told myself that I would not watch the movie again until I finished the book. I went back and re-watch the movie. I couldn't believe how much they left out of the book that I had grown to love. I struggled watching it and have a much different look at the movie (5/10)

I guess that if you have not read the book and have 6 1/2 hours so waste, watch the movie. It is a great story and done well for a tv mini-series. If you watch the movie and like the story, read the book. There is SO much more to it. If you read the book though, don't waste your time.

Braindead (1992)

bloody and funny

I liked this film. I am a gore fan, so seeing the rated version, I missed out on 17 minutes gore (so I am told.) I also haven't laughed as hard as I did during the baby in the park scene since I saw Ace Ventura for the first time. That was a great way to spend extra budget money! I liked this film good enough to buy the unrated version, which should sway my vote up a notch or two...

real holiday
22 December 1998
This movie depicts the way holidays happen, not how we look back on the good things and laugh. This movie looks at the bad and makes you laugh now instead of later. Everyone has a cousin eddie. You can't laugh at him to his face, why not laugh at this movie. I watch this every christmas with the family after we have been drinking for a while...

And clark going through the snow drifts instead of over them makes me cry from laughter!

Magical Mystery Tour (1967 TV Movie)
3/10
pointless

If it wasn't for the fact that John, Paul, George and Ringo were in the movie, it would have been in my bottom 20 movies. Nothing interesting or funny happened. I kept saying to myself "something interesting is going to happen." Then it did. It ended.

The title is misleading...

If this movie didn't have the "Halloween" title and the hype that goes along with it, it would be a better movie. Sure, Michael Myers is a scary character. And when you hear the movie title "Halloween" the image of the psychotic, unfeeling, relentless figure behind a pale, emotionless mask known as Michael Myers cuts through your head. This movie however doesn't have Mr. Myers, which right off the bat, deters a lot of fans. This movie is not an A movie far from. It is very "B" and a B-horror flick at that. It's not bad if you realize that it won't have Micheal and a little disturbing if you get into the brutality of what the mastermind villain in the movie wants to do. Could you imagine what would happen if it happened to your kid on halloween????
