Amazing show! Can't wait for season 3 :) WARNING: Slight Spoiler
29 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
This indie show has truly earned all the awards they currently have! Amazing cinematography, acting, writing, editing and directing. The story-line is unique, it keeps getting bigger and better every episode and each season seems to take it further into the realm of a Hollywood series except it's not Hollywood and there appears to be little budget and yet it looks almost Hollywood as much as these guys could make it, replete with cool action scenes and an overall adventure feel to it. It has a message as well, unlike the gratuitous types like Walking Dead. I hope they still keep making more.

Here's the slight spoiler (although it's actually pubic info from their Facebook page!): Season 3 stars the teen idol from the early 80s, Shawn Stevens! This is going to be great.

Top 10 Questions Liberals Don't Want To Answer
13 March 2007
This show is awesome! And made by the producers of "24" too. Btw, it's sort of like "South Park" in a way, without the profanity and grotesque junk. You know, politically incorrect and sarcastic of pansy "mainstream" liberals who think everyone thinks like them. Love it! I have some ideas for the show. Just give me props if you use 'em, guys!

TOP 10 QUESTIONS LIBERALS DON'T WANT TO ANSWER

(1) If humans came from apes, why do apes still exist? (2) Do most liberals drive gas-powered cars? (3) Does "global warming" occur in cold weather? (4) The 9/11 terrorist hijackers adhered to what religion? (5) How many Democrats are in media and entertainment? (6) Is it true some liberal actors promised to leave the United States if George W. Bush got elected and re-elected? (7) Do American atheists purchase items with dollar bills that say "In God We Trust" on them? (8) Can two homosexuals physically produce children after having sexual "intercourse"? (9) Does the Associated Press use the terms "pro-choice" instead of pro-abortion and "anti-abortion" instead of pro-life? (10) Is it possible an aborted child could have become a genius if he or she had the chance to live?

A Veteran's morale just got a boost!
14 July 2004
I was fortunate enough to get a private screening on base. I totally recommend watching this movie when it comes out August 6 in theaters, and I'm definitely getting the DVD when it comes out. You too won't regret it. Kudos to everyone involved, with their excellent portrayals and story filled with fascinatingly human relations based on actual events from WWII. The authentic tanks and other vehicles you see were borrowed, and luckily this movie got them because Wind Talkers and even Saving Private Ryan got passed up when their producers made requests for them. That tells you something already right there about this movie's influence, draw, and sheer raw power.

Even without the references to faith, this film would've been great, yet it wouldn't have had the same emotional impact like it did. Trust me on this. When you saw the Passion of the Christ, you know you weeped, maybe even felt sorry for living your life the way you have. That's what made this movie so rare and touching, and it didn't resort to useless profanity and such, nor any sort of preaching to the choir. It was really patriotic in a time of anti-Americanism by a few rich, elite people like Michael Moore. The imagery and cinematography captured Nazis and Allies with realism. Although not overly bloody, you get the impression from the effects that war is real and dangerous, and therefore the sacrifices by me and my brothers-and-sisters-in-arms come to light, even for those who don't believe in what we do.

I got a chance to meet the producer/director Ryan Little and the primary actor of the movie, Corbin Allred, whose character you could really feel for. All supporting actors and co-stars did an excellent job showcasing a feeling of family and camaraderie, closer to the real military than even Band of Brothers tried to display. Two great men with the courage and talent to put this thing together in 30 days on a shoe-string budget, yet it looks like a multi-million dollar movie. He thanked us all for our service to our country and we thanked him for the support. Believe me, I know good acting when I see it -- I used to act and model myself! Go see it, it'll make my day! :) God bless the USA is all I have to say.

The BEST Next Gen movie ever!
23 December 2002
And hopefully not the last! It gets emotional at the end. There's a lot of drama in this film. Visually, it has some of the most realistic graphics/effects seen in a Trek film, period! Romulans are finally used and there is a surprising twist here that may produce a sequel in the same vain as Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. I was surprised to see how good the actor playing the villian was!

Speaking of acting, it was tops for this cast and they kept the technical jargon down to a minimum. Apparently 40 minutes of footage was ripped out, so I can't wait to see these deleted scenes on DVD! Also, the music was superb and very Trek-like, as well as the huge-pounding sounds. It has rip-roaring, fast action and tension with intensity like I've never felt in a long time. Go see this movie! 10/10

Resident Evil (2002)

Better than expected for this game fan!
21 March 2002
I must say this is a way more accurate translation of game-to-movie than any of the others! I thought Milla would have been lame for this one, but she fit perfectly. I like the cinematic look of this film. As a Resident Evil fan, I am glad they took a huge chunk of the actual plot of the game series and told it in an entertaining movie-like way. And unlike the game, this movie allowed the characters to fight with their hands as well as weapons!

They seem to have combined the first three Resident Evil games into one, in a sense. But the sequel will be more of the latter two. There were quite a bit of shocking moments in this one, and I love the effects! The acting was also really good for a cast of people I haven't really seen before (except for Jovovich of course -- and she looks real good here!).

Some issues I have... they left out the huge sky-high creature like at the end of the first RE game, and there is no rescue plan. But I suppose they're tying the ending of RE1 and beginning of RE2 into the movie's sequel. The commandos were not called S.T.A.R.S. here, at least I don't recall, but they should have been. Also, the music is pretty good but I was hoping they would use some piano pieces, which in my opinion would be scarier. The majority of silence was done well though, because the games are like that as well. One last gripe is that the whole movie was mainly in the lab, and not in the mansion like the game (thus "resident").

All in all, I give it a 9 out of 10! :)

Thieves (2001–2005)
Fun and Funny!
6 October 2001
The chemistry between Johnny and Rita makes for an enjoyably curious evening each Friday night. John Stamos is again his funny self, yet at the same time delivers a side I haven't seen much -- action and drama. So this show has it all! Very nice and refreshing new series. Both of the main stars look great and their acting is really good, and the stories make sense. The addition of Tone Loc however is surprising, considering he's yet another rap star-turned-actor, but with a very strange voice of course. I guess he's somewhat convincing for his role, but we'll see.

This movie is awe-inspiring, breathtaking and a breakthrough!
11 July 2001
For those who are fans of the video game series, Final Fantasy, this movie is the ultimate satisfaction. No movie this year will beat its visuals and cinema. The story is new and unique and non-fans will love it as well. All of the critics who think it's all graphics and no story are missing the point. These characters are so real that you may lose sight of the fact that they're not.

From the facial expressions, the motion-captured movements and the voice acting, no other computer-generated movie or game will surpass this for a long while. This has to be seen many times over to get all of its essence in. It's beautiful, inspiring, and contains some humor, particularly that of the character played by Steve Buscemi. This is just the beginning, folks. The line of reality and fantasy has begun to blur...

Proud to Be an American
15 May 2001
This movie makes me proud to be an American, where are freedoms are fought by our men and women in uniform, yet we as citizens would proudly fight one day if we must, against a takeover in a war. Mel Gibson has a great performance here and the moving story, music, sound, cinematography, historical accuracy and costume design fully engrosses you in to the thick of this era. The length is perfect and like Braveheart, another epic tale is produced by a great actor/director and man.

Jesus (1999)
9/10
Almost exactly accurate and very dramatic
8 April 2001
This is a movie that is not boring like the older films. This is also almost exactly and perfectly portrayed. Jesus was not only a part of religion, but He was a real mortal before. Please forgive those who condemn any acts to reach out to the masses to show that the real Jesus was a great man and holy man, the Son of God. It puts you to tears and it makes you think. This, I am surprised CBS would even dare present, or any media network for that matter. It is about time those who pretend they are Christian stop making fun of movies that may not always get everything in there, but try to spread the word of the Lord. This has to be done. Now I will go see what Left Behind is about. ;-)

What the IRS is really about...
2 February 2001
The 16th Amendment states, "The Congress shall have the power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census of enumeration." The scary, factual information regarding the IRS and its power to forcefully tax U.S. citizens via the 16th Amendment, is wonderfully depicted in this movie. Did you know that filing your tax return waives your 5th amendment rights?

A dramatic story of businessman Dennis Smith (William Harrity), who despite his innocence, is financially ruined by the IRS. For all taxpayers, this movie will give you insight to what U.S. agencies can do to private citizens, even when the government itself is in the wrong.

The true Highlander sequel
2 September 2000
If you thought the trailer was good, wait until you see this roller coaster ride! Highlander: Endgame is a very human story and still fills the gaps with some of the most explosive action sequences of the year, a few topping even The Matrix (see Donnie Yen's fight against Adrian Paul). Fans of the movies AND the television show as well as both genders will not be disappointed.

There are a number of surprises where the audience will come to an understanding and respect for the fate of one of the main characters. The movie does not implement Sleepy Hollow's head-chopping effect, so why did the MPAA rate it an `R' movie? Perhaps due to the concept, the HOT romance, the imagination the audience may conclude, and even the semi-religious tone expressed by the villain. Immortality and redemption are the keys to the success of the wonderful story that Endgame provides.

Flashbacks are brilliantly done and do not break up the mood one bit. Also, with the introduction of the `Watchers' (not to be confused with the movie The Watchers), there are many possibilities of future releases based on this aspect alone. The evil immortal Kell makes The Kurgan look like a toy soldier while Adrian Paul's Duncan MacLeod and Christopher Lambert's Connor MacLeod share a refining moment not only as master and apprentice, but also as brothers and kinsmen.

Watch the movie to see what happens; it is a story of love, honor, friendship and loyalty, redemption and most of all, immortality. Highlander: Endgame will keep you coming back for more! And in the end, "there can be only one..."

A Christmas Carol (1999 TV Movie)
8/10
One of the better TV adaptations of the novel
6 December 1999
Patrick Stewart does a well-respected acting job of the character Scrooge in this adaptation made for TV. It has a few new twists to the Charles Dickens story, and even some special effects not seen in the previous titles. The overall theme of this movie is uplifting and the fear factor from the 3 spirits is not as prominent here as it should be. Still, the traditional core of this television movie does a nice job of portraying the Scrooge tale of "Bah! Hum-bug" in A Christmas Carol of old. And for those Patrick Stewart fans, this is one great Christmas present!

Ride with the Devil (I) (1999)

Surprisingly refreshing and moving story
3 December 1999
I thought this movie was almost going to be one of those Civil War ones that are boring, but in fact it is quite the opposite! What initially attracted me to the movie was of course Jewel. I saw an advanced screening and it was a nice piece of work, and stays true to the period's culture and environment. Everyone seems to be in character and this is accredited to the actors as well as the director, Ang Lee. Jewel did a really good job for her first movie, too! Everything seemed convincing, I just wish it was a little longer to explain more of the ending. Quite a bit of action, humor, realism, suspense, and movie quality that moves you emotionally. There are some very intimate moments that could play very well in a Movie of the Week as well. Overall this was a really good movie worth checking out.

I still watch this show in reruns--it's cool!
10 September 1999
I watched this show from the beginning (okay, almost) and I just loved the humor and the drama. It was meant to be goofy at times as well as presenting family values. Jodie Sweetin showed up at my mall, she was so cute! Anyway, I don't know why some are saying bad things about it, but maybe they like lame sitcoms like Mama's Family or something.
