Seen on TV as "Shipwreck", overall pleasant film for the younger set.
22 March 2002
This film is a near technical disaster as city folk attempt to survive in the wilds of Alaska, yet the photography and the superb participation by the animals, as well as the credible acting of the human participants bring off a pleasant and suspenseful film for any family. Overlook the technical improbabilities and enjoy a thoroughly enjoyable film.

Deadwood Dick (1940)
6/10
Seen long ago, as a boy - western movie fan.
3 April 1999
Details of the film are sketchy as it was viewed in the early forties - a Saturday afternoon matinee. The character Deadwood Dick intrigued me for his horsemanship (flying mounts) and the fact that he wore a full, black face mask when chasing the evildoers. I hoped for more of Deadwood Dick, but never saw him again.

Most beautiful actress in Hollywood meets handsomest, swashbuckling rogue in pictures.
2 February 1999
One of the t0 best adventure films ever made. The horsemanship is unmatched, the sword, the gunplay the bravado of the Arabs and the US Marines, and the cool courage of the lady and her young ones, all combine to inspire the wild side in all of us, and a longing for a return to America of the Big Stick.

Debbie Reynolds, most underrated and all-around talented actress in Hollywood.
25 January 1999
Debbie Reynolds again creates a role of mother, wife, lover, and beautiful, whimsical, comedienne. She is fully at ease, and completely believable in this late sixties, slightly risque, sexy role.

The Faculty (1998)

An awful movie.
17 January 1999
Terrible example for young high school students. Portrays violent and rude conduct by both genders as normal and "cool". The source and intentions of the "Aliens" is never addressed, and so called special effects seem created only for their cheap shock value. An entirely worthless film without a single redeeming quality.

Shane (1953)

One of the five best western movies yet made.
16 January 1999
Alan Ladd's and Jack Palance's portrayal of professional gun fighters of the old West is unmatched, and is critical to the presentation of the story. It is a gunfighter film, and the gun fights are the best ever put on film. I leave the philosophical explanations to the philosophers, and as for the lovers of GOOD westerns, this is one of the best.
