Hilarious

Excellent military satire, I remember watching this movie when I was a kid, it's even funnier now.

Warren Oates delivers a fine portrayal of a Drill Sergeant, Bill Murray and Harold Rames are in fine form as two rebellious recruits, with a fine group of talented comedians supporting.

Look for Tim Allen in an early role.

The DVD transfer is also excellent.

It's been done.

Well, it's a pretty slick production, and the cars were kinda neat, but I felt it lacking. Basically, the races should've been shorter, and the chases should have been more original. The set up of cars chasing a semi was given its ultimate form in The Road Warrior. That is the ultimate expression of that setup. Nothing in this movie comes close to the stunt work and energy of the chases in Road Warrior or Mad Max. Now, other movies have done cars chasing a semi, such as Black Dog, but none have been as similiar as Fast and the Furious. You've a guy hanging on the front of the truck, you've got the truck driver using a shotgun, you've even got similar car wrecks. If you sat down and did a shot by shot comparison of Road Warrior versus Fast and the Furious, you'd be amazed at the similarities. Anyway, check out the original Vanishing Point, or White Lightning for some great car action.

Pretty good for what it is

The story of a man fighting for Ukrainian independence during and after WW2. The story line is similiar to Michael Collins and Braveheart, and covers a time that had been repressed by the Soviets till the fall of the USSR. The good parts of the film are the opening that sets the story, and the ending sequence which builds a good deal of tension. Also good are the performances of several of the supporting players, including a Russian major that washes himself in the middle of the film, and a Russian Colonel that is tailing the hero.

The bad parts are the fact that the film looks like a low budget American educational film from the 1970's. This is not a comment on the filmmaker's talent, just on the limited technology available. Also, all of the battle scenes are badly choreographed. I'd give the movie a weak 7.

Judging Amy (1999–2005)
Shallow and one sided.

Presents issues in the most obvious, shallow, and left leaning way possible. Does not bother to show other opposing arguments, or dismisses them. From sex ed to new paganism, it is Politically Correct to a fault.

Not surprising this is as hit with women.

Innacurate
5 December 1999
Only wanted to point out that its movie, though touted as being very knowledgable in the area of Catholic Theology, has many errors that should be pointed out.

1.The Catholic church cannot forgive the sins of angels. Humans are the only creatures that fall under the church's jurisdiction in that area.

2.An indulgence only works if the recipient is actually sorry for their sins. This may be the case in this movie, but should be noted for accuracies's sake.

3.Angels cannot become humans.

4. Angels are annatomically correct. The book of Genesis records how angels and mortal women had children together. Hence the angels must have had some kind of genitalia.

5. Muses are not part of Catholic theology. They are part of Greek myth.

6. Loki is the name for the Norse God of mischief, not the name of an angel.

That said, I would like to express my dislike for the self-pity that Linda Forentino's character shows. She merely follows the pattern of people who blame God for their own choices. She made a conscious choice to have sex, then to have an abortion, which led to her predicament at the start of the movie, so she illicits no sympathy from me. I did like Alan Rickman's part though.

Excellent Movie

After watching Carrie and Carrie 2 in the same week, I have come to the conclusion that though the first movie was far creepier, the second is much more watchable. The supporting cast in the The Rage is more fully developed, and Emily Bergyl is amazing as Rachel. I think that she will go on to do great things. I liked the fact that the Carrie character in this one was allowed to actually find someone who loved her, instead of just be lead on like in the first one. The ending is very poignant, and tragic, and stays with you long after the movie is over. Definitely two thumbs up on this one.
