Pure poetry
29 April 2001
An incredibly refreshing change from the usual fodder we're served by Hollywood and company. You'll walk out of the theater with a dreamy smile frozen on your face, guaranteed! Many have already said it, but it's worth repeating: this is the best film of this year, if not the last several.

A beautiful stylized and slow paced movie.
4 July 1999
This film tells the story of a Sunday in the dislocated lives of the inhabitants of a Tokyo apartment building. They interact with each other through simple yet complex occurrences like noise complaints, often through one common link: their landlady. The filming also gives this movie a very ethereal atmosphere which I really enjoyed. I highly recommend it.

A refreshing change from the usual generic end-of-world movies

No special effects, no explanation of why the world is ending or what is causing it, just great believable characters and an intelligent story. Well worth seeing.

A very funny and intelligent parody of the Samurai film genre.
24 March 1999
The ruling Shogun's sword is stolen, and we follow Samurai Heishiro's quest to retrieve it.

They say parody is the best form of flattery, and this film certainly proves it. Great camera work, side-splitting humour, incredible soundtrack, as well as references to Kurosawa's work contribute to one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. Highly recommended!
