Problem Child (1990)
Incredibly funny
8 October 2000
This movie was great when I was 7, and it's still great now that I'm 17. First of all, it never encouraged me to misbehave--if it did so to someone else's kids then I question that person's ability to parent. Second, some of the scenes were downright hilarious, especially the slapstick/visual humor that I got then, and the more sophisticated verbal humor that the adults use that I get now. It produced memories that make me smile to this day: "Look, a giraffe!" "Look, a fist!" Michael Richards was pure genius casting as the Bow-Tie Killer. I'll concede that this movie is no bastion of film making excellence, but it's good for a few unsophisticated laughs.

Even worse than I expected...

When I went to see this movie, it was out of boredom, a chance to get out of the house with my family. Unfortunately, I found that it wasn't too much better inside the theater.

First off, in order to enjoy this (waste of) film, you must either be: A) A little kid B) Someone who has actually at one point cared about Star Trek

Being neither (of age 16) I found this movie quite boring and predictable. One event VERY logically led to another, and the mostly slapstick humor wasn't all that well done or entertaining. The "spoken humor" wasn't that much better, although I admit that I laughed about twice.

A couple things REALLY p***ed me off about this movie. First, the villain was your typical plastic reptile thing. Can't Hollywood come up with something more creative? Second, there wasn't ANY suspense at all. I never thought "Wait, they MIGHT NOT make it out alive and save this stupid alien race!" Finally, there were TONS of dull spots and groaners. My sister (college age) started to ask me for change to go and play the video games in the theater lobby. When I told her I didn't have any, she accepted my offer to play the always entertaining game of rock-paper-scissors. At least I got SOME unpredictability out of this...

Fun movie if you're a male...and a fan of not-so-subtle sexual humor
16 May 1999
A male chauvinist friend of mine and I rented this movie and liked it. It was good, cheap, raunchy, sexual, crude laughs, but laughs none the less. I think there are some very good quotable scenes in there as well. However, if you are actually expecting to see any nudity, there isn't any in there. Excuse my stereotype, but because of the vast amounts of (not so subtle) innuendo and profanity, most women that I know would probably not find this movie as hilarious as I did.

Problem Child (1990)
Haha, hilarious movie

Man, some people have no sense of humor. When I saw this movie as a youngin i didn't get it much. Then I saw it again a few years later and I busted a gut. If you don't want your kids to see it, don't let them. Don't ruin it for the rest of us.

Problem Child 2 was pretty funny, but Problem Child 3 (made for TV) really blew. They couldn't even get the rights to "Bad to the Bone."
