A House on the Bayou (2021)
Terrible terrible
I don't understand what this was about. It's like 2-3 different stories. It had good ideas I think but wow it just never connected.
I can't tell you what it's about because I don't even no myself. Just a cheating husband, a wife who takes him back, they have a daughter. Weird guests in an old man and young creepy boy.
This movie was all over the place. Just weird and nothing to recommend. Just a bad movie. Blumhouse should be ashamed. They can do better than this.
The ending is even weirder. I guess since the husband wanted to kill the wife. The husband is wicked? And goes to hell? I guess.
Mon-seu-teo (2014)
An almost perfect gem! You will love it!
This movie is simply unique and adorable at the same. Let me say, it has 2 potholes I did not like. One, the sister of our protagonist was was killed and I was hoping she would be found alive. And two, the mobster who started this didn't get killed.
But besides that, our hero/protagonist Park Bok-soon played wonderfully by Lee Mini-ki is simply a treat. She has you rooting for her all the way. In the movie, she plays a slow person who despite not knowing the outside world, gets by on with and determination with hilarious results.
So what happens when she meets a serial killer who kills her sister...well you should pray for the serial killer because he doesn't know what he's up against LOL
The fight scenes are exciting. The cinematography is great, the colors are wonderful. And the acting by the 3 leads is great. Yes 3 , because their is a little girl too. Also the supporting cast is good too. I've seen this movie many times and it never fails to make me laugh and cry for Bok-soon to overcome any difficulties. I wish this had a sequel of sorts. To continue her adventure. It's a gem.
Let the Right One In (2022)
10/10 Easily the best new series this year!
It's weird someone tried to compare this series to Bram Stoker's Dracula and blackout curtains but yes they did lol
Literally they gave no review of the series Curtains, Bram Stoker Dracula, and their rant against modern vampire movies and shows.
Then they give it a 4/10??? So basically a review bomb
Anyways, if you want to see a fantastic series with great acting, great writing and direction. This series is the one . You won't be disappointed.
Inspired by the book, this is a re-envision of the movie/book that breathe new life into the characters and expands on it.
Eleanor the young vampire girl is nice, caring, and on one night had her life changed forever. With her father, who will do anything for his daughter even...kill.
It put them on a path to find a cure.
Along the way they move next door to a boy and his mom, she is a cop. The little boy and Eleanor become friends and at first things are awkward and then it turns to something deeper.
The series is dark and the atmosphere fits the mood perfectly of NYC. There are scenes of seeing the girl using her vampire powers and so much more without spoiling.
This series is crazy fun and exciting. I give it a 10 out of 10.
Carnival Row (2019)
Another season? I thought it was over?
Wow I heard they were giving this a 2nd season and I am mixed on that.
Season 1 was overall 50/50 for me.
Carnival Row was a series that has some good storyline, particularly the spoiled rich girl and her snobby, half man/goat outsider. I liked their story overall.
The main story with the detective and the fairy was ok. I did wanted to see where it was going but I wasn't too invested in it.
So now that the series is coming back I wonder if it's too late? I can't even remember half the stuff that was going and certainly I'm not going back to rewatch it.
Carnival Row was never a 8-10 type of series for me. But it also wasn't a 1-5 type of series for me either.
I think my ratings for Season 1 at 6 is about as fair as I can give.
Kataude mashin gâru (2008)
A cult classic!!! Highly enjoyable!
It's worth 10/10 because how absurd and wonderful this is. It's not meant to be taken seriously and if those who do, then they are missing the point
It's campy, it's gory, it has over the top villains, and massive dismemberments.
The women in this are just as ruthless as the men and super crazy. But they seriously take no stuff and are tough.
Wait til you see the drill bra. It's a sickening scene. Even I had to close my eyes.
But wow what a crazy movie. If you think the parents are here to be reasonable...wrong.
In this world just about everyone is psycho, even the parents.
This was release in 2008. The Machine Girl is a about a girl who seeks revenge for her slain brother. What starts as her trying to solve the case, quickly turns into her getting revenge against all those involved. And as the film continues more bat crazy people gets involved to kill her.
It's gory, bloody, and the actress who plays The Machine Girl aka Ami Hyuga is great. You will be rooting for her as she leaves a bloody path of vengeance.
This is a cult classic. Do not miss it.
Take Me Home (2016)
Thai Horror underrated with lots of hidden gems!
And this is another great horror.
I watch this yesterday on Tubi. I had added it to my watch list because the poster looked interesting. Hahaha I do that a lot.
Without spoiling, it's about a man who searching for his family with no identity. When he finds, what could be his family he is disturbed to see strange happening around.
In a series of disturbing sequences we see him trying to leave and being prevented.
Although it can get confusing, it is always scary and entertaining. There are many moments that are wtf and quite genius. At least for me.
The ending as it all comes together is so lovely, heartbreaking, happy, sad, and wonderful. If you you are close to any member of your family, the ending will make you smile and almost cry. This is good horror film. Its not overly bloody but it's very creepy.
Your Honor (2020)
Shockingly not good, shockingly rated too high....
The critics rated this one too high. At first I was expecting a good to great series because, well it starred Bryan Cranston. I was wrong. So wrong. I wonder do critics actually watch the series they rate, given all the shows and little time they have. Anyways let's begin...
I assume this was rated high because it stars Bryan Cranston. I understand. He's a good actor but not even him can save this first season. Everything goes from likely to highly implausible to ridiculousness within the first episode and it stays that way for the next 9 EPS, I'm not joking.
I mean why shouldn' this series have a teacher who looks as old as the main character son and sleeping with her student? Or the mob boss? Or showing blk people as criminals? I mean the series wants to hit all the cliches, I guess.
Not to mention, it's slow and not in a good slow burn way imo. Things are slow to develop and have little to no consequences.
The main character played by Cranston might be the luckiest and unluckiest man on tv. So many chances for him to do the right thing, only at the last minute to change his mind.
Or some unforeseen obstacle just suddenly appears. Cliche writing at it best.
There is some decent performances besides Cranston. But it's does nothing to move the plot because everytime the series starts to move it's suddenly hit the brakes and goes somewhere else. And it does that a lot.
I also don't get why this series is 10 eps? 5-6 EPs is all that needed and then another season if it's worth it
My first ratings was a 7, but I changed it because on IMDB people might think this is a good series, and for me that's the opposite.
It was renewed for a 2nd season, so I hope things pick up and gets better.
