First rate TV Fare, loved it.
29 November 2004
I couldn't get enough of this! Catchy tunes and and fast pacing kept it going right to the end. Can't wait to add this to my collection as another great version of A Christmas Carol.

I've noticed some complaints about the adding of characters and slight plots changes. Well, I WELCOMED these. It makes the story fresh and interesting, I mean come on! We all love this story but have seen it/heard it/read it exactly the same many many times.

Be sure to catch Jason Alexander's song, as well as the one at Fezziwig's. They hightlight a strong musical score. I'm hoping for a soundtrack. Honorable mention to Jennifer Love Hewitt, I wasn't sure what to expect having only hearing her sing pop. But she holds her own here and shows versatility with her voice.

A Christmas Carol is a great, simple, musical. Large chorus numbers filled with choreography and soft ballads. It is a welcomed break from the attention deficit Moulin Rouge and scene-stealer infested Chicago.

Pathetic
7 February 2004
This movie is an incredible mess. Continuity is all over the place, looks two movies that have been edited together. Molly Shannon is horribly mis-cast in a role that doesn't make any sense anyway. Not gonna waste any more time on this one.

Great Slasher Flick
18 August 2003
This one has got all the things that make up a fun slasher flick. Pointless nudity + pointless sex + blood-o-rama +cheap scares. All in all I was more entertained by this one than the original. I also like how it was the perfect length for a thriller, it didn't get tiresome. It's hard to make these types un-predictable, but they've avoided that here to my surprise. My only complaint is the ending, I didn't get it. Maybe its cleared up in #3? Anyways, See it for some scares! 8/10

I am in love with this Cheesy Musical!
20 July 2003
The gultiest pleasure of all The plot? WHO CARES! This is a fun, light movie with two very talent leads, talented volcally ofcourse. Their acting skills are good enough. My friends and I had so much fun at this movie, it was such a nice break from such amazing material as The Hours and The Pianist. These are good movies, but all that depressive stuff can build up. Finally to the total and complete losers on this site that are trashing this movie I would like to say GET A LIFE. Had you seen the film i would tell you to say all you want, BUT MOST OF YOU HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN IT!

The Mole: Episode #3.1 (2003)
Season 3, Episode 1
Gotta love this show...
24 January 2003
What a great show! The Mole is hands down the best reality game show out there and this celebrity edition is a hoot. At the same time it will keep you guessing constantly. It was a little hard to get over the missing Anderson Cooper, but the new host does a great job. Now....WHO IS THE CELEBRITY MOLE?

Funny Quote: (Kathy Griffin in her bathing suit) "Look at my A$$!"

Prince Caspian- Very Good. Dawn Treader-Addictive, Remarkable, Excellent.
12 January 2003
Entries two and three of the series were shoved together to make them more marketable, but harder to review. Prince Caspian is the first part. It is a straightforward quickie about the fight to return Narnia to its rightful owners. My only problem is that it left out some of the book, which is rare with this series.

Total--->7.5/10

Now part 2, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. This is the series greatest success. It is also one of my favorite movies I've seen. It is a splended trip from island to island, it is completely effective. Often frightening, and always exciting. I can't give this one enough praise, I love it. Thank you BBC and all involved!

No need to go through the list ----> 10/10

TOTAL for these two films---> 8.75/10

The Biggest in the Series, but Not Quite the Best.
11 January 2003
The Silver Chair, BBC's final journey into Narnia, is a solid and enjoyable entry.

Visually and Technically it is the series greatest achievement. The Underground World and it's people have been created excellently, as well as other sequences such as the giant's bridge. Of course we're still going to have those animals in costume. I really don't have much of a problem with this, but still, we don't need to flaunt hedgehogs that have no relation to the story. The Silver Chair is the only film in the series that has areas where the writing needs a little perk up. The pacing is fine until the last 30 minutes. It becomes almost hard to follow, and lost my attention a bit. Despite that the first 2.5 hours are absolutely addictive.

Locations, as always, are perfect. They are dead on to C.S. Lewis' books. I hope to get to some of these places in my travels. The locations for all the Narnia films are perfect.

Its kind of a shame that finale of the Narnia series is a bit of a let down, but a message still comes through. "I have different names in your world..." Probably one of the rare times children's entertainment actually gives you chills.

Oh, how I love it!
6 December 2002
This charming short is one of the best holiday themed toons we will ever see. It simply wouldn't be Christmas-Time without it. Spread the word folks this one has stood the test of time and is a keeper! I suggest getting the new Christmas Carol DVD with Alister Sim (1951) version since Rudolph is on the disc as a bonus. Two Christmas greats in one!

Aliens First Christmas (1991 TV Movie)

Another one of my Christmas traditions...
3 November 2002
Since I've been a movie buff forever, I always bought VHS movies whenever I could. I picked this one up for $2.98 in a bin with other Xmas movies (all in EP mode no less). That was when I was about 10, and I've still got it now. I watch it with my other 2.98 movies every Christmas Eve Morning. It's simple, but still means a lot to me. It wouldn't be Christmas without this $2.98 gem.

Question--->Was this from a series? It has the opening and everything, maybe it was a plot that was never picked up?

Bye Bye Birdie (1995 TV Movie)

Way Better!
16 March 2002
As much strong as the cast of the '63 version was, the film completely mutilated the story. This version actually sticks to the script that was used on Bway and works perfectly. True, the thin budget sometimes shows but commited actors, and loveable songs make it work. Now I understand why this musical was such a hit on Bway.

Great Cast, but ruined story
16 March 2002
Where is An English Teacher, Talk to Me, Fine Upstanding American Boy, Spanish Rose and WHAT IS WITH THE BALLET ON SPEED? Excellent songs are cut, silly plot lines added. This is not Bye Bye Birdie, watch the remake. It could have been so good, this truly was a great cast. But Hollywood wrecked it. THIS IS NOT BYE BYE BIRDIE! It is waste of talent. I hate to be so critical, I really do.

A Smart and Original Thriller
27 December 2001
I'm not going to repeat the same thig over again about the film slowing down after the heart pounding opening. True, it does. However, it is impossible to keep that amount of suspense through the whole film and still make the story aspect good. The mid section of the movie is average, I'd say. Then when our maniac shows up at the poor house and starts to have flashbacks, we are taking back to the suspense for the rest of the film.

I think I liked this movie because it was one of the few horror films I couldn't predict. It truly did have some frightening moments. Aside from the opening, Carol Kane recieving her phone call at the restaurant is truly one of the greatest moments in horror history.

Moulin Rouge! (2001)

Words can't describe it; a (Yes, I'm going to say the "M" word) MASTERPIECE!
25 December 2001
I'm in awe...............what a movie! Ewan McGregor put it perfectly on the DVD: this movie is a FEAST! Where to begin? It pulls you in, it does not let you go and I loved every minute of it.

The film's opening song(Nature Boy) becomes more and more haunting every time I hear it. We move through Turn of the century Paris, but this isn't the upper class were used to. No, we are seeing the other side, the "poor" side of Paris. However, it is so much more beautiful to see.

It is impossible to pick a favorite scene. There are no stops, and you don't want it to stop. It is the musical I always dreamed of, the musical in your head where none, not-even-the slow ones are boring. It is all enthralling and you can't look away, it is too beautiful.

El Tango Roxanne, I remember being blown away when I saw this number in the theater. It is breathtaking! THE ENTIRE FILM IS BREATHTAKING!!! WHAT AN ACHIEVEMENT! WHAT A RIDE! A MASTERPIECE! YES! YES! YES! BANG!

(Fade to black, Cue music for Nature Boy)

Moulin Rouge......................it is a film about...............love.

Another Great Christmas Classic!
24 December 2001
This is another great entry for christmas cartoons. Fun, and it has got one catchy title tune! The plot: An inventor helps some discouraged children at a funeral home have a merry christmas. I suggest that you buy the Cartoon Christmas collections Amazon.com has, they're great.

Fun Sequel!
23 December 2001
This was a lot better than expected. The story does a great job of showing where the characters from the original are now. The songs were catchy and fun, a rare thing for other movies of this type. Entertaining film that is worth a watch, its down-right FUN!

The Mole (I) (2001–2008)
Too many Contestants in this Sequel that just Doesn't Compare to Season 1
28 October 2001
The Mole, season 1, is probably the best and smartest reality tv show to hit North America. However, in this second season the changes take away from the show. It still is good enough to watch, but it simply isn't as good as season one. The main problem is too many contestants, it is easy to mix up who is who. Next, the amount of time spent on challenges had been reduced so their could be more "contestant interaction" aka alliance planning and fights. This takes away from the show and turns it into run-of-the-mill reality trash. The Mole WAS smart and always kept you guessing now its nothin' special.

The Others (2001)
8/10
High Quality Film *Spoilers* Keep away if you haven't seen the movie!
24 August 2001
Warning: Spoilers
This film gets points right away for being able to scare me. I don't mean something that will keep you awake and thinking like "Rosemary's Baby" The Others scares as you watch. This is rarely done now adays with success, it has just become too predictible after all the Halloween and Friday the 13th sequels. However, The Others pulls it off.

Now to the idea that it is slow...I disagree. The entire film felt intense for me. If you think THIS is slow then you really need to work on your attention span. I am only 14 years old, but I read reviews from people I assume are grown men and women complaining of boredom. That surprises me, shouldn't it be the other way around?

The moment in this film that will stay with me is the book of the dead. As Grace (Nicole Kidman) flips through the pages I automatically felt uncomfortable, unsettled. The images will stay with you. Another great moment is when the house is being searched for an "intruder". Grace is looking around a room when we notice something behind her, eyes, staring out from the darkness. She does not notice at all and just when it comes apparent to us they are there, a light moves and we discover the eyes are part of a painting. That was perfectly timed, genuine.

Now to the ending, I'm talking about the ending-ending when we discover who Grace and the children really are. Well, I guess there was some element of surprise there. Unfortunatly, it didn't seem all the shocking since it isn't a new concept. The line "This house is ours" seems to come from no where. It wasn't like they loved the house, they were being put through hell. So the ending-ending wasn't the films strongest point. However, when Grace discovers a page that was missing from the book of the dead, that sends chills up your spine. That was frightening.

The Others proves that special effects are not needed to scare. It also proves that no matter how many horror movies you have seen (And believe me I have seen LOTS) it is still possible to have a few scares. The Others will take you on a journey that you won't soon forget.

Big Brother 2----WAY BETTER!
24 July 2001
I watched BB1 everyday, but I do admit watching George make a "Happy Aniversery" sign for what felt like an hour was just boring......but I do respect the people who were there first season. Unfortunately reality TV isn't made for nice people. I know BB2 is pretty much trashy sometimes, but its just so good. I mean this one get emotions out of you so much more. BB has had a total turn around, I just hope people give it a chance.

A Powerful Film
21 July 2001
This film is truly excellent. Not only does it feature superb location and music, but it is also an unforgettable story. You soon learn to look past the idea of "animals can't talk" and see how wonderful it really is, and you don't need to be young to enjoy. So powerful, it will bring you to tears.

Original and interesting with a great ending.
5 July 2001
The film gives us some pretty neat ideas to think about, where does reality end? The first movie I've seen on the subject and it was worth it.

Some people will call Passion of Mind slow, but really their suffering from being over Hollywood-ised and don't realize the have a very small attention span. The term "thriller" is too harsh for this movie in my opinion. The movie isn't action filled, but it doesn't need to be. The story is enough to keep the audience interested or at least the only audience that will truly appreciate it. Even though this movie didn't get much attention, this was a smart movie for Demi Moore. It shows she isn't a Hollywood vehicle that will just take anything, this is a cleverly crafted story. I respect her greatly for doing this movie. Also, the rest of the cast is great. The France scenes have been shot beautifully, really good work here. Also, the film ends greatly. The perfect ending for this movie, I was worried as I watched the movie that maybe the ending would be too simple, but it worked out fine. See it.

Simple Horror, Classic horror
4 July 2001
This film is not at all as bad as some people on here are saying. I think it has got a decent horror plot and the acting seem normal to me. People are way over-exagerating what was wrong with this. It is simply classic horror, the type without a plot that we have to think about forever and forever. We can just sit back, relax, and be scared.

American Willows
27 May 2001
While it is good, it just seems too American. The laziness of spring beside the riverbank is never captured as it is in the 1996 Vanessa Redgrave version. The whole thing is just too cartoonish for the story, and not enough time was spent with Mole and Rat. 6/10

Hollywood Trash
19 May 2001
SCREEEEEEEEEEEEECH!!!!! SLOW DOWN NOW!!!!! The trailers for this movie made it look like a suspensful mystery/thriller, but it sure as hell wasn't that. This film had the plot similar to that of a movie of the week, and that exactly what I felt like I was watching. When I think about it, there was no way to market this film, it just is so flat and un-interesting. Talent was wasted, so was money. This same movie could have been made for 3 million without doubt. It simply is trash, I was sucked in by previews promising a suspense ride. Cheap Hollywood trick to bring in the money, it is Hollywood trash.

Mole's Christmas (1994 TV Movie)
10/10
Superb Christmas Special, Right up there with How The Grinch Stole Christmas
26 February 2001
Mole's Christmas is really the perfect christmas cartoon or special. I've seen a lot of Christmas programming and this one is on par with The Grinch. What makes it so good? It isn't cheesy and about the quest for the true meaning of christmas (The only good one about that is the Grinch). The story is heartwarming; the animation is colorful. It was taken from The Wind in The Willows, and is just as good as the chapter it is based on. I first saw Mole's Christmas on CBC here in Canada. I had to have it, I knew I should have taped it! So began my quest to find it on VHS. It was released on VHS but now it is out of stock, but I bought on moviecd format. Simply it is a movie on a CD-ROM. Another great thing is that Mole's Christmas is that it's part of a series, The Wind in The Willows Collection. There are two more titles in this series, and you can get those ones also. This is one of the best cartoons I've ever seen. Buy it or tape it if you see it on TV in the christmas season. You won't regret it. Without a doubt 10/10, and this is only the 2nd 10/10 I've ever given.

One of The best "reality" shows yet
10 February 2001
Okay so maybe it isn't "reality" but oh well they still put it in that category. This is awesome, it is fast paced and always keeps you attention. There are no boring contestants unlike some of the other shows. Fast, exciting, deserves all the attention it gets. 9.5/10 (If we were allowed to vote on TV series)
