L.A. Law: The Movie (2002)
They Ruined the Characters, But it wasn't Horrible
Arnie is suddenly a complete loser and is getting manipulated by his ex-wife? Ann is no longer a tough-as-nails skeptic, she's been defrauded by a cultish guru? Kuzak has given up the law to run a bar? And he's still going over Douglas's head to Leland, even though Leland is retired and working in a greenhouse. Pretty unrealistic, and an assassination of the original characters. And the plot behind the reunion special was as cookie-cutter as you can get. It wasn't utterly horrible, but it wasn't the L.A. Law of old.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Worst Film I've Ever Seen
The acting was horrible. It was entirely clear the actors, especially the girl, knew the entire thing was a fake. She is clearly egging them on to be scared the whole time, and noticing "scary" things she would never have noticed if she was not in on the whole scam.
It is not scary, not believeable, and not worth seeing. They have done a great job marketing, and limiting theatre access (to get long lines, etc.), but the big joke is, this movie is horrible. If you are over 16, you will hate this movie. My date and I left early, completely stunned at how bad the movie, and the acting, was.
Superman II (1980)
Underrated Gem
This movie isn't exactly Citizen Kane, but its pretty darn good. Far and away the best of the Superman series, it has an interesting plot and some memorable scenes. The extent to which the romance angle is developed is quite unique for this sort of movie, and the contrasting plotlines is fabulous (while Superman marries Lois, the 3 villains take over the world (unbeknownst to him)).
In the end, the plots collide in a superbattle over New York City. The special effects are pretty good for the day, and the fight scene is very entertaining. Far and away my favorite aspect of the movie is the several memorable quotes and scenes, like the ending (where Superman crushes Zod's hand), and Lex Luther demanding Australia as payment for locating Superman for the 3 villains. The villains do a great acting job, especially the leader, Zod. It is a great movie that is quite underrated because it is a sequel, and the series as a whole (especially the last two movies) leaves a lot to be desired.
