1930, Not 1950!
29 August 2018
The year on this video is incorrect. It is from 1930 or 1931 The can of Campbell's Pork and Beans came out in 1920s. the can from the 1950s had a picture of beans on it. But the film itself is really cool and fun to watch. I didn't realize that Kitchen Utensil demonstrations went back to the 1920s and 30s.

I Gave this Movie 1 Star!!....Worst Best Picture of ALL TIME!!
13 August 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I have never been more disappointed in a major movie in my entire life! I just watched this for the first time last night and I knew going into it that there was a lot of talk about the ending of this movie and how many didn't like it, And now I know why.

*Spoilers...Like I care! The fact that the Josh Brolin character was killed or that his wife was killed or even that the Javier Bardem character got away is not the point, all that if written well is fine.

The Problem is, and its a big one! Is that they WAY they did it! After investing, what 90 minutes? (or however amount of time it was, 3/4 of the movie) into the Josh Brolin character and a great cat and mouse game with him and the Javier Bardem character the unthinkable happens! All of the SUDDEN the Josh Brolin character is Dead!!! And how does he die? Not by Javier Bardem character! But by a bunch of mexicans that we NEVER see! We or the Tommy Lee Jones character just HAPPENS to come across Josh Brolin laying dead!

WHAT?????????????????????????

I invest all this time into these two guys and what do I get for my time? NOTHING!!!! What a FREAKEN Waste of my time!! After that happened I turned to my wife and said, "Do you think Josh Brolin upset the Coen brothers that day and they just wrote him out of the movie?" LOL What a Joke! That was the most cheated I ever felt about a movie.

Not too mention that whole scene with Tommy Lee Jones and Barry Corbin, after just being cheated that scene was like nails on a chalkboard! I give the first 3/4 of the movie up until Josh Brolin dies a solid 8! The rest of the movie after he dies, I give it a MINUS, yes MINUS -7!!! For a grand total of a stinken 1!!! GIVE ME BACK MY 122 MINUTES!!

For Those Who Like To Have Fun!
11 March 2006
If your westerns Must be more along the lines of The Unforgiving or High Plains Drifter then The Good Guys and the Bad Guys is not for you.

But if you Love westerns like Support Your Local Sheriff and Silverado then you will love this movie!

The Good Guys and the Bad Guys is just plain old Fun! Robert Mitchum and George Kennedy are great together. Martin Balsam's Mayor is like an earlier version of Mel Brook's The Governor in Blazing Saddles.

Why the don't make westerns like this anymore is beyond me. But then again why they don't make westerns at all is really beyond me.

Whenever I come across this movie on TV I stop to watch it. You cant go wrong with The Good Guys and the Bad Guys :) .

This Show Is Compleat Garbage!!
3 November 2005
This has become the worst piece of Crap on TV!! I watch the KTLA morning news every morning here in LA and I sometimes catch the first few minutes of this show if I don't change the channel in time and every morning its the same garbage "Who's the father" I remember over a decade ago when Maury fist came on and like Sally they were all Oprah clones yet they at least tried to do more respectable and hard hitting subjects but as we all know Jerry Springer changed all that and Maury fallowed him down the garbage path.

Its sad to see a once respectable Journalist stoop to this kind of a low where all you do is bring 7 black guys on and try and figure out who is the father of a girl who had sex with all of them around the same time.

No redeemable qualities at ALL!

GARBAGE!!!

Laughed My Butt Off!!!!!
6 July 2005
Reading some of the other post here and I think there are too many prudes on here lol

You can NOT take this movie seriously, it's just a dumb comedy and it is Funny!

This movie is a strange combination of the 1950's, 1970's and today. Its like "Leave it to Beaver" meets a soft porn movie ..lol

The laughs really begin when "Mothers little helper" is introduced in the movie :)

Jeff Daniels is hilarious!

I loved it and got a kick out of it!

Incredible!! You MUST See this Film!!!!!!
4 July 2005
I just seen this film last night for the first time on TCM and it was Amazing!

Anyone who sees this film and does not like it is beyond me! What really made this film so incredible for was the time is was made.

1928!

The acting, directing, editing and camera shots are WAY ahead of its time!

These are movie making methods American audiences would not see in American movies until the late 1960's and early 1970's and that are missing in most of Hollywood movies today!

It blows my mind how a masterpiece 50 years ahead of its time such as "The Passion of Joan of Arc" was made in 1928 and 77 years later Hollywood still makes crap like "White Chicks" and "From Justin to Kelly"

The performance by Maria Falconetti is so stunning that the Academy should just give her an Oscar regardless of the fact her performance was 77 years ago!

It was an Honor to have seen this film!

THE BEST OF THE BEST!!!
14 May 2004
If you was a teenager like myself in the early 80s this was the best show on TV in 1980-82 This was right before MTV hit and it touched on subjects that SNL would not touch. It was truly all about Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll. Remember Mark Blankfield as the Druggist? "Just Take a Pill!!" or Darrow Igus as the Jamaica Ganja man? And then add Michael Richard's and Larry David plus Melanie Chartoff (Who was always Hot!) Not to mention Great Rock & Roll every week!

SNL has always in my opinion depended way too much on political humor and really dumb skits, a lot of people I know find it pretty boring. SNL has not been funny since 1985 and I have always believe that the return of Lorne Michaels in 1986 has made the show worse.

"Fridays" was the best and I know if and when it becomes available on DVD I will be the first to buy it.

13 August 2002
This is the most original adult movie I have ever seen, the idea is so good I would like to see it in regular movie. I have not seen this movie in over 20 years and I would love to buy If I could find it. Hollywood should take note and remake Take Off into a regular movie.

When TV Movies where Real Movies!
28 May 2001
The Girl Most Likely to... is all class, I also seen this movie when it first aired when I was 10 and I thought it was too cool. I too wish it was on video or if they would at least show in on cable.

Back in the early and mid 1970's TV movies where some of the best movies of all time! Especially ABC's Movie of the Week! This was before TV movies turned soft and became movies about "One women's struggle to save her family" or "One women's fight with a deadly disease" The 70's TV movies where the same kind of movies you would pay to see in the theaters.

And for those to young to remember them, the Best of all time are - "The Girl Most Likely to..." "The California Kid" "Sweet Hostage" "Brian's Song" "Trilogy of Terror" "The Night Stalker" "Born Innocent" "Savages" "Pray for the Wildcats" "Bad Ronald" "Elvis" And the king of then all Steven Spielberg's "Duel"

If you can catch any of these movies do so, you wont regret it.

One of the Smartest Sci-Fi Movies Ever!!!
30 November 2000
I am so sorry this movie did not do $200 million at the box office.

It is a Great movie! I myself avoided this movie like the plague when it was first released in the theaters. The marketing on this movie was so wrong, I thought it was a kiddie movie. I finally rented it and WOW I had to buy it, and I am not one for Sci-fi movies.

This movie is intelligent, awesome visuals, and some of the greatest action scenes I have ever seen. How in the world Star Wars Episode 1 made $400m (and sucked) and Starship Troopers bombed is just beyond me.

I am even surprised of some of the reviews on here, I guess they just didn't get it.

I recommend you buy this movie and get it in Widescreen and turn up the Surround sound and Enjoy!!!

Some people just don't get it!!
15 July 2000
For those people who do not understand what a B movie is will naturally dislike a movie like "Night of the Comet". They just don't get it! You can't really compare them to first run movies, they are in a class all there own.

As far as B movies go "Night of the Comet" is one of the best ever! For those who don't watch B movies will not recognize some of the great B actors and actresses you see in B movies like the great Mary Woronov.

She is a B movie goddess, and if you look up her bio on IMDB you will see a list of some of the greatest B movies of all time like "Rock 'n' Roll High School" "Eating Raoul" and "Death Race 2000"-(My Favorite)

These movies are not intended to be taken seriously there are only intended for you to enjoy, relax, kick back and have a good time!

The Greatest Party Movie Ever!!
2 June 2000
Anyone who critiques this movie on its acting, story, or redeeming values, well then forget it! They just don't get it! This movie was made for laughs and that's what you get! There are only a hand full of movies you can play at a party where everyone will stop what they are doing and watch, some are (and take note, these movies must be seen unedited!) "Animal House" "Blazing Saddles" and "Airplane"

But the greatest one of all is "Bachelor Party" I know I have thrown a few parties where everyone is dancing, partying, but you put this movie on and slowly a crowd forms in front of the TV and people start laughing and have a great time. I heard once a few years ago that Tom Hanks said in an interview that this was his favorite movie to make because he had so much fun making it, well it shows!

I do have to say that if you have only seen this movie edited on TV and not on video, you are missing out! This is one of those movies that must be seen unedited!

Not as bad as everyone said!
1 June 2000
The problem I found with this movie was the beginning and the ending, otherwise the rest of the movie was really good. I didn't like the way she just rolled into town and quickly left in the end, had they made a better beginning and ending I don't think the critics would have been so harsh on this movie, once it gets going its a really fun movie to watch.

The acting is not bad and the sex and nudity isn't as big of a deal as the press led everyone to think. Elizabeth Berkley took all the heat for this movie and I think that was all wrong, she deserves better then all the harsh criticism she received. All in all it would make a good rental.

This was a real personal disappointment for me!
26 May 2000
I first seen the original Smokey and the Bandit when I was 13 when it was first released the summer of 1977 I was so in love with the first one I seen it 17 times in the theaters. I once walk in the rain to see it, I took my first date to see it and I have probably seen it 100 times on TV and Video.

With all that said I think I have the right to critique the sequel. I remember waiting 3 yrs for part II, I remember hearing there might be one in 1977 and I was so excited. Well, I remember I thought something was going wrong early in 1980 when I herd reports they wanted to call it "Smokey and the Bandit have a Baby" But I was still eager to see it, I rushed to see it the first night it was released, I remember it was a packed house and I was really excited. Then it happened, while watching it I couldn't help thinking this thing was awful!

It had nothing what so ever from the first one, they went for nothing but laughs, goofy plot, goofy gags, goofy jokes and transporting an elephant for $400,000 was so stupid! At first you might say, well wasn't the first like that? NO!!. Watch the first one again after watching the sequel, First - The Bandit was cool thru the whole movie, never lost his cool, never went for just a laugh, He was kinda the straight man. Even Jerry Reed (Snowman) had a really cool seen where he gets beat up (and this was a serious seen) and then runs over all the bikers bikes, that was great!! I remember the audience cheering when that happened. You even believed the Bandit and Frog really fell in love.

True it had a lot of slap stick screw ball humor but that was all from the sheriff's (Buford T. Justice) character, and it was all really funny. They could have really done a lot with this movie, like in most sequels they forgot the first rule - Continue with the original story! Don't repeat it!! The trick is to make it look like one whole movie cut in half, not a remake done badly. (for more research on how Not to make a sequel see Another 48hrs)

One heck of a Great movie!
23 May 2000
Once again a movie proves that its all in the writing, you get a great story, some fine actors and you end up with one helluva movie. I seen this movie along with "American Beauty" and I cant stop thinking about both movies, I believe I was lucky enough to see the two best movies of 1999 in one night.

Bruce Willis was robed of a best actor nomination. It is truly a great movie. It is the type of movie you will think about weeks after you see it, and thats what a great movie is all about.

Nothing but Class all the way!
23 May 2000
This movie was an instant classic the second in came out! I seen this movie several times in the theater when in was released and maybe 20 times since, why in the world Redford and Newman have never made another movie together is beyond me. These two guys go together like Laurel and Hardy or Tracy and Hepburn, by now they should have made at least 3 more movies together.

I herd Newman wants to make only one more movie and make it his swan song and then retire, I hope its with Robert Redford. Everyone always uses The Godfather 1 and 2 and also Citizen Kane to show how to make a great movie, I believe they should include The Sting in any "How to" lessons.

Class, Class, Nothing but Class!

Needed better Characters and less effects!!
22 May 2000
Episode 1 was missing something Empire Strikes Back had...A Great Story. I hope before Lucas writes the next episode he takes another look at Empire Strikes Back and remembers its really all about the characters and not the special effects.

As much time and effort they spent on the special effects on this movie The Matrix seemed to pass them up. The Matrix was new and fresh and I might add took all the Oscars this yr, 4 in all and Episode 1 went home empty handed.(also I would like to add I hated the Jar Jar character)

True, Episode 1 made over $400m but 20yrs from now I think it will be remembered as the least favorite, Episode 1 was proof that if you don't have special characters no on will care about the special effects.

The Empire Strikes Back had both!

A Great unknown gem!
22 May 2000
Back in the 80's when Kevin Costner was playing nice likeable guys. This one was a surprise for me, I first seen it on video back in 1987 and I loved it. True its a guy movie but its one that girls would like also, and it has one of my all time favorite lines from Judd Nelson "I am not a Weenie"

Costners best roles was when he played likeable guys, but for some reason he has been playing guys with not much heart the past 8yrs and his box office reflects what people think. I hope he can get back to roles like this one.

Clearly the best of all 4!
22 May 2000
This one is the best of all 4 movies and probably all 6 when the rest are released, but yet it made the least amount of money at the box office. Go figure!

Episode 1 was missing something Empire had...A Great Story. I hope before Lucas writes the next episode he takes another look at Empire and remembers its really all about the characters and not the special effects.

Outstanding!
20 May 2000
I am not a big Sci-fi fan but I was blown away when I seen this film. I just hope when they make parts 2 and 3 they can make it just as great! Keanu Reeves doesn't make a lot of movies (Smart move on turning down Speed 2) but when he does they are really good! The one thing I couldn't stop thinking of was how much more I liked the special effects in The Matrix then Star Wars episode 1.

Married... with Children (1987–1997)
The Best of the best, deserves a better Ending!!!
20 May 2000
There are only 4 sitcoms I can think of that truly changed TV, All in the Family, Soap, Seinfeld, and Married with Children. What they all have in common besides great raw humor was Guts and a lot of it. So what upset me the most and I'm sure all of you feel the same way was the way it ended, No final episode! It was just canceled! Just like Soap was in 1981. Married with Children made the FOX network!!

It was on for 10 years 259 episodes and it was FOX's first hit show and was FOX's cash cow for years and they had the nerve to cancel it without a final goodbye. So what I would love to see is for it to be brought back as a movie!

A theatrical movie on the big screen. I believe it would be a great movie for someone like the Ferrelly bros. or the Coen bros. I always thought it should either be a movie (rated R naturally) or on cable so it can really let loose.

I mean its a no brainier! Look at the Vacation movies, the Bundys are way more hilarious then the Griswalds! $100 million box office just waiting to happen! But what ever happens PLEASE at least give it a real final ending.

Greatest Love Story Ever!!
16 May 2000
You may not think so at first but once you see Braveheart you will agree that it is the Greatest Love story ever told. True it is an extremely violent movie with wall to wall action but its all based on William Wallace's love for his wife and it is what drives him and gives him his strength until the end. It is a great date movie, it has it all action, violence, love, and an emotional ending. If you rent it or buy it make sure you get the Widescreen version!!

I Love this Film!
11 October 1999
I was so surprised when I first seen this movie a few months ago on cable, I had never heard of it before and I am a fan of Peter Bogdanovich. (Paper Moon, What's Up Doc? and Nickelodeon -- My favorite) This move seemed way ahead of its time with the story line, and the way it was filmed with such clarity you really get the feeling that it was made a couple years ago not 31 years ago. There are so many things in this movie that amazed me like the how clear the print was and the attention given on the scenery here in So Calif, the cars driving down the 405 freeway, and of all things watching Bobby Thompson eat a Snickers candy bar. These are details you would see later in movies in the 70s 80s but never in the 60s.

And of course you have to give acclaim to Boris Karlof, this is one of his best roles if not his best. He is so likable and funny - Yes Funny! The ending is just a little corny but it is really entertaining. I still don't understand why Peter Bogdanovich doesn't make more theatrical movies anymore instead of TV movies. He is a great director. I say Rent this movie!

One of my favorites of all time!!!
6 October 1999
I seen Smokey and the Bandit when it first was released in 1977 when I was 13yrs old and on my first real date. That summer I went and seen it 16 more times, for those who see it now and think its just a dumb movie just don't get it! Its a simple little movie that is a whole lot of fun to watch, In 1977 this movie was second behind Star Wars and it grossed an impressive $126 million and it only cost $4 million to make.

The one main problem is when you see it on TV today, the version that they run on every channel is the same badly edited copy that first aired in 1980 on NBC and all the great lines are badly dubbed.

For those who don't remember but in the 70s Burt Reynolds was the coolest guy in movies and he ruled the big screen. If you really want to enjoy this movie Please rent it or buy it!! You will laugh your butt off.

I seen this movie last night along with "The Six Sense" and I cant stop thinking about both movies, I believe I was lucky enough to see the two best movies of the year in one night. Kevin Spacey is guaranteed a best actor nomination and unless I see someone better before the end of the year I think he will win. It is truly a dark comedy/drama but you will laugh you butt off at a few great scenes. It is the type of movie you will think about days after you see it, and thats what a great movie is all about.
