Deadly Encounter (2004)
Good Mystery
Not a bad MOW. I was expecting another film based on womens issues but was pleasantly surprised at the element of suspense. Sure, parts of the plot were pretty hokey but for the most part the movie kept me guessing. Was the nut bar connected with the ex husband, somebody in the tavern or was it the guy (person) that she cut off? Daniel Magder was excellent. I've seen him in Mom's on Strike and in Guilt by Association, both MOW's and he is very creditable, especially the way he challenges his mother the way a preteen would typically act.
Laura Leighton also played the typical mother (ex-wife) that both men and women can relate to. She was frustrated enough to seem real.
See it if you missed it. It's worthwhile.
Remember the Titans (2000)
All the critics can't be wrong
I just viewed the movie on VHS and then started to read other viewers comments. I stopped after the first fourteen. They were unanimous in their praise of the film. I've never see this before in reading reviews. I agree. Knowing that the movie is based on a true story didn't matter that we knew the ending. I saw the film with my wife and kids. The verdict was again unanimous. Great film. Now after all of these comments on DVD, it looks like I'll have to go out and buy one to really see the difference. It's nice to walk away from a feature film feeling good.
Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows (2001)
Realism at it's finest!
This had to be the most realistic portrayal of any actor that has ever been produced for televsion. For once it was difficult to tell who the difference between the real Judy Garland and the actors playing her. The film also shows the stark realities of the movie business. Although times have changes, the nastiness still exists today and never has it been displayed so clearly as it was in part I of the movie.
Race Against Time (2000)
Race Against Time (2000)
This was an enjoyable action packed movie. The hospital scene with Roberts and his son (played by Daniel Magder) was touching. The caring and emotion between father a son was well acted and scripted. Although Magder's part was relatively small his relationship with his father was an integral part of the film. I was kept on the edge of my seat throughout the movie. This film scores high on my list.
Vanished Without a Trace (1999)
comment on the acting
The movie was well done. I was especially impressed with the little boy Daniel Magder who played the youngest child. He showed a lot of emotion and poise. The story line seemed a little suspect. Many of the low lives, seemed to be living in a fairly classy area.
