Simon Birch (1998)
Am I the only one who cried from the beginning til end of this movie?
Geez. What an absolute downer! Sure this is supposed to be one of those 'faith-restoring' movies but god. This poor kid (I don't mean Simon) basically everyone he knows and loves DIES! And then he finds out that his father is actually the up-tight reverend. Yipes! As if this wasn't enough you have to feel sorry for poor Simon. The kid wants to be a hero, his parents treat him like he's worthless, the reverend and the Sunday school treat him the same way. I guess the message is even if no one has faith in you, your faith in yourself can still make your dreams come true. I didn't notice though, I was too busy blubbering.
Wishful Thinking (1997)
Adult Dawson's Creek, only more whiny and more annoying
Good God all mighty someone please save me from this movie. I saw the preview and it looked reasonably comedic. As it turned out those few moments were the only ones that were funny AT ALL! This movie depicts a group of struggling twenty-somethings in their quest to find/understand love. My oh my what an original theme. It relieves the same events over and over, each time a different character is the 'narrator'. I couldn't stand this movie long enough to finish it so please don't ask me how it ends. I'm giving it two enthusiastic thumbs down.
Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995)
The best of the series....By FAR
I enjoyed Die Hard the original movie. The second one....well it could've been better but I dealt with it. Die Hard: With A Vengeance, was the best action movie I've ever seen. Bruce Willis portrayed loveable screw-up John Maclaine so well that I had to keep myself from getting to caught up in his quest to save the city from a madman. Excellent. A 10.
