Proc? (1987)

Action/Document
25 November 2000
Proc? (in English "Why?") is based on a true story. Sparta Prague is a football team which is very known for fans. This movie is about their return from football match back home. They were returning by night train. They were young, drunk and aggressive. So they occupied the train, terrorized other passengers and finally demolished the train.

You may watch this as action movie or also as document, because action scenes are interrupted with fans' speeches to policemen and court.

Some scenes are very well shot (i.e. - boy and girl are making love in vandalized compartment, they are covered with Sparta's Club Flag while other people are sitting around and drinking).

But the main question (Why?) remains open, because nor policemen, nor the fans are able to explain why they became so aggressive and why the demolished train had to be demolished.

Psychological-social movie
24 September 2000
Warning: Spoilers
This film is based on the story which happened in 1984 in Czechoslovakia. The main hero is Marika, 14th years old girl who was by mistake of authorities sent to madhouse for young. Here she founds that wards are terrorized by their tutors. Those tutors are also responsible for deaths of several wards due overdosing of medicaments. Marika tries to escape several times but she is always caught and sent back. She also tries to protect other kids against of tyranny. When she doesn't see a chance how to change the situation she lights fire and the madhouse burns.

It is the end of the movie. However in the 1984 the story continued: 3 tutors were imprisoned for tyranny for 6 months to 1 year. Marika was imprisoned for 5 years (because she caused the fire).

I can highly recommend you to see this movie. It is very well done. However you will not feel good at the end.

I didn't see this movie by myself but I can say that it was nominated (and won) the trophy for the Worst Czech Movie in 1998 (Plushy Lion Award). I think it can explain a lot.

Vampire from Ferat
27 March 2000
Translation to English may be "Vampire from Ferat". It is about revolutionary car. It doesn't need to stop at gasoline stations. It's very fast and cheap. It only needs ... blood! Imagine how much would you save having this car - of course if you survive your ride! This is classical horror with cars. Anyway - this movie gives you unique chance to see wife of our present president nude! I am not kidding - it is really she!

I have no idea if this movie is translated and presented abroad. Probably no, because it is not so known. But I must say that it is one of the movies I really love.

Translation of title can be "Waiter - run away!". It is story of man who had financial troubles. He was married for several times and had to pay for several kids. He wanted to earn some extra money by playing in cafe. But one drunk guest (when he see him in jacket) suppose he is waiter and pay his bill to him. So the main hero find his chance - he goes through restaurants and acts that he is waiter and asks people to cash to him...

All the movie is full of sweet humor. It has also nice music.

Really pleasant surprise
20 February 2000
I must say that I didn't have a chance to see this movie before (it is shame it was released 12 years ago!) but I was pleasantly surprised by it. People here acts like real people. Main hero (H. Ford) who lost his wife is surrounded by arrogancy of officers and must do his investigation by his own. Accompanied by cute Parisian girl he tries to find out her. If you are interested if he is successful go and see this movie! French people have French mentality, officers acts like officers and young people acts like young. I can recommend! Here it was released as "48 hodin v Parizi" = "48 hours in Paris"
