Why don't people just laugh!
1 December 1999
This movie captivated me with laughter. From nuns in the Resevoir Dogs parody, to the Mexican food incident, or just the obvious, Sandra Bernhard playing Bunny. It's very comical, not to be taken seriously, which it seems people try to do. It's a comedic masterpiece, truly unbelievable, at times unbearable. The portrayal of the Natural Born Killers movie was so right on. I'd recommend this movie to someone who is going to watch it with a group of people, laughter is contagious, and you won't be able to handle yourself with this film.

Why did I bother?
1 December 1999
Exactly! Why did I bother renting this film, it's been out for eight years, I never wanted it before. Well I guess I was in the mood for a documentary. I don't get it though, is this really Madonna? A playful kitten who sings and who prays before shows, for some reason there should be more. I rented it hoping to see more of people besides Madonna, not just Madonna getting her make up done and bitching about Warren Beaty. Two good pieces of the film would be; The Sandra Bernhard sequence, which was brilliant. And the fact Kevin Costner called Madonna's concert "neat." Sure, if your a hardcore Madonna fan you'll enjoy watching her primp and suck on a bottle, for me, I wanted more of the real Madonna.

Johns (1996)

Gritty Drama, Good Acting
28 November 1999
I'm quite surprised at the negative feedback on this film. I found it to be quite moving, acted very well. It's the story of a john whose been out working on the streets for a long time, and his young friend. It's the day before Christmas (John's B-day) and the one thing he wants is to spend it in a nice hotel. Able to watch cable television and lay back. The problem is, he ripped off some other street guys, who took his money. It mostly takes place during the day, where you get to see how john makes his money, and the challenges he goes through. His friend tries to change John's mind about staying on the streets, convincing him about how domestic life could be much better. But John is a hardcore guy, he's not to be pushed around, but can he make 300$ in one night?

Quirky yet subtle
28 November 1999
In the beginning one does not know what to think of this movie. It's the story of a man and his quest for well, you could say love, happiness, possibly just contentment and a career. His family is quite insane, although very intriguing. You slowly start to understand exactly where Monkey is coming from. Many great performances (Debi Mazar, Sandra Bernhard, Martha Plimpton) keep the movie flowing. The sense of humor in this film comes from conflicts with family and friends. By the unpredictable end your wondering why it's ending so quickly. I became absorbed by it, wanting to know more about the future of Monkey Zetterland.

Definite Ten!

Jake is a teenager looking for a place to stay. When both her mom and her sister off her, she starts following Marcy around. Who, we later find out works at a massage parlor, in which three of Marcy's friends are also employed. Jake, while being inside to use the bathroom discovers what kind of massage parlor it is. Instantly intrigued, she hangs around, whether against Marcy's will or not. Jake found a place she wants to be. I found this film to be one of the most touching I've seen. It really got me involved with the characters, and the acting by everyone was great. It really is a movie about bonding, and I think it's beautifully done. The best part is, Jake can name fifty different kinds of candy, and go into detail about each one.
