Half-Life (1998)
Might be the greatest Action Game ever made
In 1998, A software company names Valve Software released a game that would forever change the way we look at Action Games. That game was called Half-Life. Hailed by PC-Gamer as "The Best 3D action game ever made", and I couldn't agree more.
The game itself won about 45 game of the year awards from many different publications.
Play it
Aliens (1986)
One of the best action films ever made
Aliens (1986) Directed by: James Cameron
My rating:5 out of 5
In this sequel to the 1979 film "Alien", I found myself totally immersed in the intense atmosphere of this film. Masterfully directed by James Cameron, It's definitely the best of the whole damn series, maybe even of the whole genre.
Sigourney Weaver stars as Ripley, a former starship pilot who was chryogenically frozen for 57 years after her ship was attacked by the alien. She is found by a deep-space mining team and taken back to earth for questioning. I won't give any more of the plot away, but get ready for the movie experience of a lifetime...
Halloween (1978)
The extreme realism of it scared the hell out of me
Halloween (1978) Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasance (RIP) Directed by: John Carpenter
My rating:5 out of 5
In my personal opinion, this film is a masterpiece of terror. A film so in-depth, so scary, it's probably going to scare everyone who sees it (except people who are used to the fast-paced "Scream" type of movies") The atmosphere and the tension build-up is almost to much to handle.
This is also Jamie Lee Curtis's first starring role in a feature film, where she plays a young, pretty high-school student who is going to babysit on Halloween night. Her and her friends just think it's just going to be a normal halloween night, until HE came home...
Also starring in this film is the late Donald Pleasance(sp?) who plays a doctor that treated an escaped mental patient who is about to cause havoc in a small town called Haddonfield.
This is probably one of the top five best horror films of all time, and I highly suggest it for any new horror fan looking for a good scare.
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
Freaky!
This mad tale about a bunch of cannabalistic serial predators living in the backwoods of Texas has got to be one of the most freaky movies ever put on film. I mean there's a homosexual, chainsaw-wielding maniac chasing young teens through the woods. How many times have you seen that on film? huh? Probably not many.
The story begins when Sally Hardesty (Marilyn Burns), Her invalid brother Franklin (Paul A. Partain) and a group of 3 other friends go to investigate a possible robbery of their grandfather's grave. On the way back, they stop for a hitchhiker who is stranded on the side of the road, and the hitchhiker eventually leads them to his family...And at which point I'm not going to tell you any more.
So, If you're a fan a freaky stuff, check this out.
American Beauty (1999)
Unmatched Brilliance
American Beauty (1999) Kevin Spacey,Annette Bening Directed By:Sam Mendes
My Rating ***** (Out of 5)
Last year, a film came out that was so brilliant, so moving, so monumental, that it could only be called "American Beauty". I loved it, this film has got to be one of the best of the 90's. Everything about this film is a huge achievement.
Kevin Spacey plays a troubled husband who falls in love with one of his daughter's best friends. His wife (Beautifully acted by Annete Bening) has no clue that his husband is cheating on her until her daughter suggests that he might be by telling her that her friend has a very large crush on her dad.
All in all, I found that this film was well deserving of the 5 academy awards it recieved at the 72nd annual academy awards (Including best picture)
Highly recommended for everybody
The 6th Day (2000)
A thinking man's action film
The 6th Day(2000) Arnold Schwarnezagger,Robert Duvall,Tony Goldwyn Directed by:Roger Spottiswoode My rating:****(Out of 5)
I recently saw this film expecting just another "run & shoot" movie, but I was pleasantly suprised! This Total-Recall type action flick has a soul! (Not to mention its one of the best Arnie flicks in recent history!)
Arnold Schwarzenagger plays Adam Gibson, a family man living in the near future with his kids, his wife, and dog. That is until he is suddenly cloned without his concent by Drucker (Tony Goldwyn) It's all lies and conspiracies for the rest of the show, so Arnold has to discover why he was cloned and save his entire family in the process.
Personally, I thought this film was a fascinating look into the possible world of cloning and the dangers we may face if we decide to bring it into this world
Excellent acting overall, expecially Robert duvall, who plays the scientist that made the cloning of humans a reality. (He used it on his own wife many times to keep her alive.)
Overall, I thought this was a great film, If you're tired of the typical Hollywood "Run & Shoot" action films, than this film is definitely for you.
Recomended for everybody
Late Night with Conan O'Brien (1993)
Conan O' Brien is the funniest man who has ever lived
Now I have only been watching The Late Show for about 3 months, but I have never been more entertained by a television show than by this one, coming in second is "Talk Soup"(1991)
Conan O' Brien is a comedian who, up until now, I have never heard of.
Great show, never fails to make me laugh.
Highly suggested.
Army of Darkness (1992)
A great film.
Army of Darkness (1993) Bruce Campbell, Embeth Davidtz Color/81 minutes/Rated R for violence & language Directed By:Sam Raimi
Rating:****(Out of 4)
The Second sequel to the 1982 movie 'The Evil Dead' is a comedy/horror film witch I particularly enjoyed because It was different from the normal horror film. With it's over-the-top one-liners and cool action, this is one of those films that is sure to please any fan of bizarre film making, horror or even comedy.
What I really enjoyed though, was the character Ash. He was just, IMO, one of the coolest guys ever to grace the big screen.
The downside to this film is probably that it was too short! It was only 81 minutes!
4/4
Highly recommended
