Superman & Lois (2021–2024)

Disappointed after such a good start
27 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This show had good potential focusing on the family life of the characters, especially the relationships with the sons. But it gradually moved the emphasis to a fight with a ridiculously powerful enemy with seemingly unlimited super powers. The show jumped the shark for me in episode 10, "O Mother, Where Art Thou?", where all the occupied people are "freed" w one single act. Then the show jumps again in ep 12 "Through the Valley of Death" where they target Superman and not Morgan Edge, then Superman overcomes his evil side by sheer will power -- so trite, unrealistic and unimaginative. And to take jumping the shark to a whole new level (jumping the sun?) the final scene of ep 13 with Morgan Edge approaching the sun; even a highly designed spacecraft couldn't survive that.

It also had annoyed me that John Henry Irons comes from a different universe where things are not exactly the same (he was married to Lois after all) and yet he's so certain that Superman is the same in both universes. I was willing to live with this till all the aforementioned shark jumping but now it just adds insult to injury.

everything moves along so slowly

Intriguing but so many long interludes w a character just standing there mulling over their past, then events happen at such a rapid pace you can hardly keep up with what's going on. Each show could be half as long and not miss any of the story line.

Disappointing

I don't know why this got such rave reviews. While the animatronics are amazing, the series spends more time showing and bragging about their spies than they do showing the creatures they're supposedly studying.

The Mentalist: His Red Right Hand (2009)

fed up

Warning: Spoilers
I am now totally disappointed and annoyed with this show; this episode did this series in for me. The main enjoyment of the show has been Jane's abilities for observation and insight. It's been bad enough that he's been so glib about it and he doesn't have to work for his conclusions. But now we're stuck with Red John front and center and the writers are making him much too skillful and cunning to approach anything like reality. The major problems i had with this episode 1) Bosco just sat there and watched the other two in the room get shot, then after he was shot he decided "oh, i better defend myself" and went for his gun --too late of course. This is not the way a cop on the force all those years reacts. 2) John (or his right hand) couldn't have had that much knowledge to be able to get into the security system computer and modify things just so. I could believe he could have destroyed all the data, but to specifically target and modify the CCTV data was too much to believe. 3) More importantly, Red John's ability to infiltrate the CBI building to commit his assassination was unrealistic, especially with the recent lock down. 4) Most importantly, Jane would have known Red John wouldn't let his Right Hand live so he should have taken extra precautions to safeguard her life. They made it seem that the thought never crossed his mind.

Unique and funny

I loved the way Una carried herself and moved and i liked the relationship between Una and Dick. There were parts that made me laugh out loud. I'm not sure i liked the way the film changed toward the end, but all those changes (lighting, characters, setting) were very meaningfull and consistant with the storyline.
