Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)
Lucas infuses grandeur and soul into Sith
Awesome movie!!!! "Sith" does an amazing job developing the plot and incorporating the story lines of all 5 episodes. After seeing episode 1 and 2, I did not expect much out of "Sith", but I was pleasantly surprised and entertained by the superb graphics, the action, the storyline and the grandeur of this film. "Sith" is worthy of the respect given to the original trilogy especially New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Thank you, Mr. Lucas for getting back to your roots and making a quality film versus a studio driving money maker with no soul. Bravo! I cannot wait for the video. Video will give me the chance to see Yoda, Obi and Mace kick some butt.
Foolproof (2003)
Unexpectedly entertaining thriller
Nice sleeper film. If you enjoy a comedic thriller you will definitely enjoy this movie. It is a Canadian film, which may explain the limited release in the States. Nevertheless, it is a quality film worth checking out.
Whale Rider (2002)
Amazing Tale
In addition to a beautiful landscape, this film manages to tell a sweet and beautiful tell about one of the native cultures from the South Pacific. The story does an amazing job depicting the history of Pai's elders and ancestors, while illustrating the conflicts an indigenous culture most face into order to evolve and survive in the modern world. The resolution toward evolution comes through opening up to all of the possibilities and fight the stereotypes of the "old" ways. This is truly a beautifully written story and Keisha deserves much praise for her acting.
One last note: the images of the whales are captivating. WOW! Clearly the best film of the year.
Mission: Impossible II (2000)
John Woo redefines the Mission Impossible series
The first MI was tired, but John Woo pumps new live into this series. Supplying the audience with non-stop sweat and action. His signature round-house camera angles capture some amazing fight sequences, especially on motorcycles Mr. Woo rocks.
The cast Cruise, Newton,Scott and Rhames provide a glamorous flavor to this stunning action movie. I hear Cruise did his stunts...if this is true the man is a true action hero warrior, able to defy gravity and reality at times.
The only compliant is the love story. The chemistry between Cruise and Newton is hot, but the story line is a little drawn out and secondary to the action and the mission. Other than that I would highly recommend this movie.
Don't miss the number one movie of the summer or you will be sadly disappointed.
