Disclaimer: I am a middle-aged guy who has spent his entire life in the NYC area, is 30+ year resident of NJ, and has been a Springsteen fan since 1975. To say that I was predisposed to like this movie just from the music is an understatement.
However, I found the story delightful and emotional. It captures quite well the essence of teen angst and the power struggle between fathers and sons that transcends cultures. It also reminded me of how Bruce's music touched my soul during similar clashes with my own father.
Some of the scenes felt a little contrived to fit in with the lyrics of a song, but the scenes ended up being so appealing that it made me smile anyway, reducing the contrivances to a minor quibble.
It's hardly Oscar-worthy but it's terrifically entertaining. It has a lot of British charm and a great score (obviously). Highly recommended.
