Lost Horizon (1937)
Fantastic
One of the greatest fantasy movies of all time -- period! Excellent cast, beautiful setting, great story, something to sit back & day dream about. If there was ever a movie about finding utopia this is it.
Last of the Dogmen (1995)
A great modern times western
This movie reminds me a lot of "Lost Horizon". The scenery is beautiful and anyone that's ever been up in that area can attest to it. It's both a chick flick and a guy's movie because of the great mix of emotion, excitement and action. A couple of things in the movie are a little hard to swallow, but so are a lot of things in James Bond or Indiana Jones pic's, and it never stopped anyone from liking them. Tape it or rent it if you haven't seen it, you won't be disappointed.
The Crow (1994)
Action Packed
To keep it short & simple, one of the greatest "Revenge" movies of all time. Eric Draven comes back to life and comes after the people that killed him & his girlfriend. He goes after them with extreme prejudice and does them in one by one - brutally. Definite guy flick!
Valdez Is Coming (1971)
good revenge flick
I like everything with Burt Lancaster and Burt in a western is that much more enjoyable to me. If you like "Revenge" movies like "The Crow" or Death Wish" then you'll probably like this. It also has a great supporting cast which is mainly the "bad guys" and when they make Burt mad he makes them wish they didn't. Good shoot em up flick!
Broken Arrow (1950)
Great Western
Jeff Chandler is excellent as Cochise and Jimmy Stewart likewise as Tom Jeffords. It gives a fairly accurate portrayal of the meeting of the 2 men and how they became friends. It's a great story and has a lot of action.
I highly recommend it for anyone who loves Westerns
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999)
Disappointed
Overloaded with animation. I think George waited too long to make this, because to me it seemed that he forgot the formula he used on the first 3 episodes. The best part of the movie is the last 30 minutes where the action involves mostly people - not animated characters. I hope in episode 2 he gets rid of a lot of that crap & goes back to basics. George also forgot that the "kids" that were drawn to his Star Wars movies originally are now anywhere in the 30-50 year old range. They're the ones that wanted the most to see the continuing saga. And do me a favor George -- kill Jar Jar in the first 30 seconds of episode 2.
Red River (1948)
Probably my favorite John Wayne pic.
I don't know exactly how many times over the years I've watched this but I still enjoy it. I think mainly because it portrays John in a different light. Basically, he's the bad guy here. The conversation between characters at times was a little lame but I suppose for 1948 or the timeline the movie depicted was ok.
