This is one of the greatest of Stephen King adaptations to screen. The flashback plot line is superb as is the acting, cinematography, and musical scores. This should definately have been nominated for an Oscar and should have won it. This is an often overlooked movie and overlooked best of the Stephen King adaptations.

Despite some scenes with flat acting, this movie is one of my five favorite all time movies. The story line is empathetic to all and the final scene in which Ruth reads Robert's letter brings tears to my eyes each time I watch it.
