007: Nightfire (2002)
Brilliant!
This game is absolutely fantastic....
You know that this is a game for every Bond fan to enjoy and the structure of the game, stops it from being just another "shoot 'em up".
The game is the closest I have seen to a Bond film with car chases, snow mobile fights, gorgeous women and typical Bond innuendo.
Playabilty is 9/10 and the graphics are 10/10. Obviously John Cleese and Pierce Brosnan didn't do the voices of the characters however, the similarities to the actors is uncanny.
The only let down for this game is that the levels have a tendency to repeat themselves.
Bond fans will love this game. Gameheads will like this game.
It's a winner all the way!
The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999)
A typical sequel -
This review does not contain spoilers!
Rachel is Carrie White's sister through the fathers genes. Rachels mum goes nuts and ends up in a looney bin. Rachel looks after herself with the guidence and Susan Snell. Rachel gets tormented by bullies and goes on the rampage at a party killing with her mind......thats the film. I can't even begin to describe just how bad it is !
Frailty (2001)
Nothing about this film is Frail
Frailty has the perfect mix of action and suspense all given in the right quantity at the right time.
**Minor Spoilers**
Firstly I have to say that anyone who claims that they saw the ending coming a mile off is talking bull. This film delivers as big a shock as the USUAL SUSPECTS at the ending with FIVE plot twists at the end.
2001
The eldest Meiks son, Fenton, approaches FBI Agent Doyle in his office and declares that his younger brother, Adam is the serial killer wanted for 6 murders. Adam is now dead from apparent suicide and now Fenton is free to tell the whole tale about his religiously insane father and brother and the "Demons" that they have destroyed all over Texas for the last 22 years.
1979
The story runs that "Dad" Meiks is a single parent living alone with his 2 sons. One night, he claims that God gave him the message that he must become "God's Hands" on earth and destroy "Demons" which inhabit human form. He and his sons are chosen to dispose of the evil doers and bury them in an ample sized orchard with backs onto their land. Adam is happy to help, Fenton wants the "destruction" to stop at all costs.
Most films which run in a mainly flashback scenario, dart back and forth. It's pleasing that FRAILTY was allowed to run it's course and Bill Paxton didn't feel the need to rush the plot to the point where the movie seems a complete blur.
The plot twists are cleverly introduced where for a moment, it's difficult to see where the film is going and then "CLICK", suddenly it's all in place and makes perfect sense.
The two boys are fantastic in their roles and it's also nice to see Paxton in a role that doesn't make him an arsehole or a jock.
This film has extremely religious overtones yet is not a conversion movie. It pays homage to the wrath of the Old Testament and gives a great sense of justice at the end in the way that the wrong doers are dead and the sense of FRAILTY that you feel when you have sympathised for 99% of the film, with the wrong character.
FRAILTY deserves a lot more credit than it has received globally, yet the box office receipts tell a different story.
20 years from now, I imagine 2 friends talking in a bar about a film they watched last night about a religious father killing demons in his shed.... His friend will respond with "Is that the one where the brother was right all along?"....
Anyone who watches this film will remember it in the way that SE7EN will be remembered for the "head in the box" ending....But you'll have to watch it to see what I mean.
10 out of 10
The Mexican (2001)
Esta película era muy excelente
This film really is a small gem. The big name stars such as Pitt and Roberts don't take any of the limelight away from a dazzling script and a fantastic 2 hour fantasy. You already know the plot by now so I won't insult your intelligence. Suffice to say that I am not easily impressed, but with the chemistry between all 3 leads(Pitt, Roberts and Gandolfini) carries the negatives which are few and far between.
Some people offer a rating out of ten, some out of five....not me, I just tell it how it is and THE MEXICAN is worth 2 hours of your life !
Rock Profile (1999)
This show is the dogs Danglies.....
How quality is this show? Its the funniest show on TV. The Bee Gees were amazing but by far the funniest is U2. Bono can't do an Irish accent and spends his spare time "surfing the interweb" The Edge also surfs the web but only "to see all the nudey women and to play games". Fantastic!
