I have never watched a film that can do the story-telling completely. This is the one. Every scene, every character are moving the plot forward. Each act, each line are moving the characterization deeper. Each prop, each FX scenes deal with a deeper arena of the souls of the characters. I mean this is a good film, and I watched it many times, and I am just amazed how the director tells his basic story.

The Director blends philosophy into his own movie. The quest is that what if he is of another race. It is not as superficial as what if I am an American or a Japanese. The exploration here is that Henry has made it all, and he searches for the meaning of life, and he finally goes back to where he comes from, and he is happy with all that. Everything is symbolic in this film. It touches on themes like absurdity of life, the French existentialism, ends with the Oriental ideas, that Henry finally gets a chance to know himself, and what treasure in the materialistic life is greater than knowing thy oneself. If you are searching for something deeper, this will certainly help you to find out more about yourself.

Cimino is one of the very rare species on earth that can create a "MOOD' that leads to the very cradle of western civilization. The Roman Empire. As a foreigner who has lived in an Italian town for a year, I come to see that the colossal heart of every Italian man can only be captured with its gist by Cimino. And no other up till date. It comes from lighting, its shadow, its colours, its smell even on screen, its silhouettes, its accents, its breathing space, and his very own colossal heart that can contain it all. You do feel that he has achieved that sacred task in showing us THE SICILIAN. Nobody has that feeling ever been captured with rapture that its texture is almost noble, royal, yet sacred. But in its careful craftsmanship of Cimino, you find it everywhere, and it is just everywhere that overflows: its costumes, its lighting, its camerawork, its juxtaposition, its projections, so on and so forth. Its tempo of the film makes you flow like a river that breeds lives and cultures at the very same time.

Thousands of gangsters films out there, and none can compare to its intensity of the very dangerous lives of true gangsters' circles. Done and scripted in such a great intensity, vigorously directed by the talented Director, best performed by two professional male leads, one Caucasian, one Asian. I have never seen TENSION can be created so interestingly as well as intensively that provokes the "conflicts" of a gangsters circle: its twists and turns against the cops, and the cops in every single turn in cracking the business of the gangsters. This film makes all other up and coming Chinatown stories insignificant. We have a lot to learn from the true professionals. Watch it again and again, and watch it many times to get "it".

As a foreign audience, I also feel that this is a great film. You do have the expectation to wait and see what happens next. You do expect them to be safe at all times throughout. You also feel that there is something strange about the place. It's very much like any school kid's camping, or excursions, that you always bump into something strange, and want to check out what it is all about. When they reach the ghost house, and it ends, and you just have all resolutions of your own stories of what has happened to them. A great movie. It's gripping in every twist and turn. I have a private collection, and it's hard to find. Any serious film buff should watch this film, it just explains how creative the next generation of film-makers can be.

Accidentally bought a VCD copy, and I am so surprised by its careful plot, careful handle of the scenes, and also with great smashing martial arts by Shannon Lee. With great acting skills displayed by Superstar Michael Wong, this film looks COOL. A good film to watch, really. You can relax and enjoy its stunts. Lots of things to be learned from this film by all professional film-makers, and certainly it is better than any action directors that you can imagine. Best Direction. For myself I watched it three times in a day. And certainly it is a collection item for any serious film buff. You need to watch it, mate!!!

I watched it on TV in one Sunday evening. It's starts off in a very masterfully written fashion: two babies got separated in a gang war. And it starts off again with one of the brothers is a crook, and VAN DAMME did act very well there. And after a few scenes, he meets his brother again. Well, you don't expect much good acting from a boxer, but you do feel the sweet side of VAN DAMME, and a cool side of VAN DAMME. And after sometime, you see them fighting together for a cause. Well, I love to buy a DVD version and watch it again. This is VAN DAMME. I like him, he is cool. I think this is a bloody good movie. Well, the budget is very small, I suppose. But it's a good movie, so it's a good movie.

A film by Raymond Fung Sai Hung, he has captured a very interesting story about how the young kids growing in Hong Kong. How the Hongkongers have fun with their friends. And how the youngsters fall in love. And how they care about their friends. Lots of in-jokes with a true version of a natural blend of a group of HK Chinese living in a westernized city like Hong Kong, Director Fung has created a very entertaining version of "boys meet girls". As the title suggests, it all comes from the "heart", and why don't we let it go "wild" for a while perhaps. It is "provocative" in every sense of it, but it has that subtle touch with true feelings of how they feel about each other. A first Hong Kong prototype of its own in this genre, perhaps. It is "funny, light-hearted, smart, and hilarious" at times. Director Fung has told a story that has created a NEW TREND in the 1980s: lots of Leslie Cheung most famous songs, lots of laughters, sadness, and in-jokes about boys and girls falling in love. Looking back in 15 years or so, this is still a very entertaining story at all times. Those were happy days.
