The Pretender: Island of the Haunted (2001)
Not Quite an Ending....
I really enjoyed the Pretender series over the years. I was so sad when the show was canceled with so many issues still unresolved. When I heard that there were two movies being made I was so excited. Unfortunately, the Pretender Island of the Haunted did not answer nearly any of questions. It left with many more questions than answers. Although I did enjoy the movie, I do not feel that it was a good conclusion. Instead of tying the series all together they created too many new story lines at the end. Never before in the series did they go into anything mystical or religious. Now at the show's ending they create this mystic scroll with magic powers. It goes against all which the show previously stood for. After watching this I feel like there needs to be two more movies to resolve what the past two have started.
Pretender Island of the Haunted, did not incorporate a lot of the story line that was set up in Pretender 2001, neither Ethan nor Miss Parker's inner sense were mentioned, which is odd considering the first movie was based almost entirely on that.
After watching I am just more confused then ever...
Popular (1999)
Brilliant! I think not!
I thought it quite funny that someone chose to describe this show as Brilliant considering that has to be one of the worst television series I have ever seen. It has sterotypical characters with time old story lines and bad actors. I have seen it twice and have yet to find why it is appealing. It is not all like real high school. As being a high school junior right now, I can't relate at all to this show. Anyone who says that they can must be a Dawson Creek or Buffy fan, because only people who can't get enough of this kind of teen garbage would like this.
The actors on this show are terrible and the story lines so unoriginal and predictable. One of the episodes that I saw was the Christmas one. Which was just a "remake" of "It's Wonderful Life", how many times do I need to hear "Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings". Please couldn't they write something original. The kid wishes that he was never born because he has cancer and Whoa all of sudden an angel named Clarence shows this world. And can you believe that the whole world is messed up because he was never alive.
They need to make more quality shows, not more of this teen garbage.
Freaks and Geeks (1999)
One of my favorite shows that was so sadly canceled!
After reading many others comments about Freaks and Geeks I would have to agree that it was a break through TV show. Not to often do TV shows come along that capture the true essence of something. I think Freaks and Geeks really portrayed High School. I am in High school now and don't find it anything not even in the slightest like Dawsons Creek, 90210 or any shows like that. I can't even think of anyone I know who is a beautiful as most of the sterotypes on those shows. Even the "unpopular" people on those shows are gorgeous. Does anyone know that many beautiful people who are friends? I know I don't.
Thats why I love Freaks and Geeks is honest. I think NBC needed to give it a chance, I think it would have developed an audience given a better time slot and advertising. We need more shows on television like this one and less Dawson's Creek. Watch Freaks and Geeks on the Family Channel on Tuesday nights, support one of the best shows on television!
DEATH TO DAWSON AND LONG LIVE THE GEEKS!!
And the Band Played On (1993)
A frightening realization about how AIDS came about
I viewed this film in school as part of our AIDS Education and found it totally wonderful. It had an all star cast that delivered impressive performances. This exquisite portrayal of one of the most terrifying diseases of the human race, gives a new incite to the origin and manifestation of AIDS.
It is a film that everyone should see to know the background of AIDS. Since it is one of the biggest problems facing the world today.
