Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies (2023)
Tickled Pink
Two episodes in and I couldn't stop grinning. This pre-quel to Grease hits all the nostalgic marks (Frenchy & The Frosty Palace!) while bringing attention to current issues that haven't evolved nearly as much as they should have since the 50s. The musical performances are fun and well choreographed - you'll find yourself bopping along to several. You know from the opening number that you're in for a fun time. The cast is top notch - especially the Pink Ladies. I loved seeing the origin of our beloved "girl gang" & watching these women step into their power. Marisa Davila is exceptional as new girl Jane. Her story parallels that of Sandy, but she fights back with her brains. Can't wait to see the remaining episodes and I'm already🤞 for more seasons!
Shotgun Wedding (2022)
Laughably Bad
The short & the sweet of it. Great cast! They did what they could to save a poor script. I CONSTANTLY wondered how long they'd spent in the pool & I felt sorry for their shivery, wrinkled asses. You know they were in there FOREVER. Someone had to have peed! As far as plot goes - laughable - it had me hollering at the tv over nonsensical, easily solvable points. That said, there are a couple well-done and hysterical moments that nearly save the whole thing - the hair zip-line being one. My recommendation, host a fun hate watch party on a boring weekend, punctuate the showing with your shady commentary, lean into the genuine high points, and make everything that much more enjoyable with some beachy
cocktails in hand!
The Rookie (2002)
Feel-great family film!
Disney delivers a feel-great family film that appeals to all ages. It will make you laugh, cry and realize `It's never too late to believe in your dreams.' Quaid is exceptional as everyday hero Jim Morris. Place this based-on-a-true-story baseball movie on your must see list!
