Bohemian Rhapsody (2018)
Great! Really best way to tell this story
I've read the other reviews. Some think it is not strong enough or not intimate enough, but I think it is perfect! Despite what journalists may think, we, the real music fans, never cared much about the artist's intimate life, we care about the music and this film is almost a mirror image of what I remember Queen was during their best time and that's enough for me. It satisfies you and makes you think it is enough! It brings back the right memories. Somewhow as a tribute to Freddie, it is as much as he would've wanted it to be. Well done!
Nunta muta (2008)
A truly great experience into the moving pictures
Tonight, 1st of May 2009, I have been invited to the Ratiu Foundation's Film Festival in London to see the film. Reviews from Romania came as a poor film, with a simple matter not well directed. I have to say that I've had the best cinematic experience in years. Malaele's film is truly a masterpiece, in directing actors as well as in his choice of cutting and music and everything that anyone would want to see. If some voices call it a copy of Kusturica's films I gotta say that is 10 times better, because on top of a colorful cast he also has acting, drama, tragedy, and comedy at the top of his sarcastic lungs. Malaele is a master in film that needs to be praised, and he needs nothing more of my words. All he needs now is his recognition that I as a Romanian director would give him with all my heart: I wish I could do a film like that!
The Fall (2006)
Long awaited but disappointing
As a big fan of Tarsem's The Cell, I found this film quite disappointing. Visually the film is too perfect, almost as a commercial. It is too beautiful to tell the story right. It looks like he is a big fan of "Baraka" from where he inspired for most of the film. The story is nice, but not well told. The film is beautifully boring. I was sad to find that out after I waited so long for it. I am sure the audience loved the visuals and understood half of the story and felt almost nothing. A pity for a Director with such a rich visual power. Anyway, the Blu-Ray is worth buying. Probably it will remain an important film in the history of cinematography. It is stunning beautiful.

A Huge Turn into the International Cinematography.
Despite a bad Promotion on the local market, Cristian Mungiu has created a MASTER PIECE. From personal experience I understand, and I know how hard it is to promote a film in this world. Don't I dare to ask myself, what would be the right way to promote a film like 4,3,2. After several months from the film's release, I finally got the chance to see the it. Once again, I would like to take down my hat in Mr. Mungiu's front, for the wonderful work he's done. The Mexican Trio, the self made kings of Realism in modern film, that perhaps had ruled the silver screen for the last few years, can now step back and let the throne to Mungiu. His film makes Babel, Children of Men, or any other film that deals with real fact, looking like a commercial for pop-corns. With all my respect and gratitude from a film Director to another, even though I find myself on the quest for something else completely: Thank you! This is a "Must See" opera that will bring any serious filmmaker to a huge dilemma: What should we look for next?
